KV - English Level

My daughter will go to K1 at KV in the coming Sept, just want to ask the existing KV parents - (1) what do you think the English level your kids learned at school ? will KV teach phonics ?  
(2) do you need to find other English courses outside ?

My boy learn a lot from his elder sister.   Spoken Cantonese and English is way better at the same age.

Accent is better then the average HKner, actually surprisingly good but not as good as native speaker.   The usual difficulties such as black /back; grass /glass.

1) starts of slow and easy in K1, by K3 kids do listening comprehension, simple sentences, plurals, present tense, lots of songs and poems...but no phonetics

2) no additional external courses
