聖嘉勒小學Vs真光

My daughter has received offer from True Light 真光Primary School and St Clare 聖嘉勒 Primary School.  How to compare between the two schools and which one is academically better?  Which one has better English standard?

My girl is now a K3 student of st. clares, no big change in terms of work load and style of teaching.  The old principal seems more approachable and the new principal, to me, a bit traditional.

In fact, I was also worry about the change of prinicpal few days ago.  However, I've decided to to keep my girl at st. clares because I believe the new principal will bring some new ideas/approach to the school but the direction and/or goal of education should not change just because of the new principal.  Therefore, it should not be a critical issue to me.

The major difference between TL and SC is language.  I also got the 2 offers and my girl is also a K3 student of SC.  I will choose SC because of the language.... English and one more additional language - French.  For TL, it is co-ed, the only reason that I filed an applicable is for my little son!  Although I got few co-ed offer on hand now, I decided to choose SC becasue (1) language - English + extra French (2) friendly school environment (3) work loan .... not so heavy (4) good quality of girl (5) stable academic result (6) "quite" guaranteed S1 to SC (7) not far from my home .....

Actually one of the parent raise a similar question during the P.1 Admission Parents talk hosted by St. Clare a few months back.

And Ms. Dora Poon's answer was all local schools their P.6 students went to were already accounted for in the powerpoint chart (which I believed should be the same as the one you traced to their website), and that the rest were those who either went overseas or went to international schools such as CIS, ESF, etc., so they did not counted it in the figures for local schools.

Or again, I think you might want to call her directly to see if she answer the same thing again, just for the sack of verification of facts.

You are welcome !
Actually St. Clare's Primary School posted the SSPA result at around July 10,2009 which is only a few days after the release of the result. (I have also posted this information in under the thread of  "St. Clare's Primary School" in "小學一覽" in similar time.

I don't know whether the official school website will archive this for parents' notice. Anyway, hope the information given can be useful to you.

I would suggest that you should call up Ms Dora Poon to verify about what we heard from the parents' talks. That should be the most authoritative source of facts about their Form 1 allocation in your case.

And, I would also like to draw your attention to the fact that, for 2009, how many places for each of the nominated / feeder schools we talked about here were still left opened after the feeder school / nominated school arrangements, the discretionary stage (interview, and non-district based) and the part A of the central allocation (non-districted based).

Hi kermitan, no offence, but I am really the type of person who must 'see' the figures and facts before making a decision.  I absolutely don't believe you lie about this.  However, as I am facing the same situation, St Clare vs True Light, I'd like to get a clearer picture before making the decision.

I agree yr analysis which I already got it after digging around nets and forum.   The only thing I want to clarify is the path of their P6 students.   Anyway, appreciate yr initiative to help.

OK, then I would tell you: those information were provided by the principal of St. Clare Kindergarten and St. Clare Primary School, Ms Dora Poon, to all of the attending parents during St. Clare's primary admission and kindergarten admission talks through a powerpoint slide.

So either you can still be skeptical about whether I somehow without any plausible reason should lie about this, and kept digging around in forums and internet about this result you would believe,

Or you can waited until next year and go to St. Clare's admission talks and listen for yourself in person.

Or you can take this as an prudent reference, and moved on to understand more about different schools and how the system really work, such that you can formulate the best path for yourself and your kids in pursuit of a brighter future.

Take your pick.

That is much clear to me now.  Thanks for you all.  Orginially I thought it is similiar chance to go to their own secondary schools.  Now, I have noticed the difference.  At St. Clare, it would skip the trouble for the interviews of P1 application as anyway, a seat at its secondary school is better secured.  English standard would be better at St. Clare.  But the school environment is not as good as that of True Light.
