How many language is your child learning?

my girls are now 3 and 4 years old and they speak English and Mandarin. We talk to them in English at home but I also want them to get exposure in Mandarin so I hired a Mandarin tutor for them. She is a student from French International School and she speaks English, Mandarin, Cantonese, French, German and Japanese. I hope she can teach them French later on but when should I start it? I think they are still pretty young, but they actually have interest in French.

佢而家係紅磡一間叫Amazing Language既上緊，因為我自己本身都住紅磡，東山對我黎講太遠啦，同埋都想試下其他地方

Actually I want him to learn Spanish more than French as I know Spanish is more common in most of other countries.  However, I see my neighbour is French.  That's why I let him learn French, coz at least he can practice with his friend.  I don't know how other the self learning kit can help becoz I don't believe in watch TV or jsut listen through tape can help a lot in language learning.  

I think if you really want to try learn Spanish.  Join those playgroup with her and also practice at home.  you need to learn with her as well.  ask the teacher suggest you some easy book to read first may be better.  If I do not have a French neighbour , I don't think I will let him learn other language besides the language I am comfortable to speak (English, Cantonese only)

Yes, I think regular practice is important.  That's why I have not enrolled my kid to take other languages except for English and PTH which i can handle.  However, my kid likes French a lot and therefore we bought a self-learning kit.  He loves to try the new language, though my French proficiency is only very basic.  Depending on his learning attitude, I may consider putting him to learn the language.

I think it doesn't matter how much language you want him to learn.  but if the child learn language through talking, listening, reading.. is there any chance that he can practice at home ?  coz usually this kind of playgroup only attend once a week. I don't think he can learn the language if we do not have any other explosure for him to practice.  

I let him try the French playgroup too, because we have a French neighbor who has a 3 years old daughter, sometimes we meet up to go to playground together, so that my son can kind of practice a bit.
