Humanities is by no mean a easy task for F.1 student. My husband and I intensively coached my son on this subject. He was able to master the subject majority on his own in F.3. Even if he stay in the school this year, he won't choose Humanities (he will choose Science stream), but no doubt he benefited a lot from the mode of training the suject offered.
When doing the project and the research, we had to read the articles and explained to him. Because there are articles that well beyond their capability to understand, both in terms of Eng standard and idea/concept. Tried help him formulate the framework; directed him to see/view a topic from different perspectives. During the process, the child will be able to learn how to anlysis facts and figures.
The good thing of this subject is there is no right or wrong answers as most of the questions are open-ended. As long as the kid masters the theory/concept of a particular subject, the rest will be opinion. Hence, Eng standard and critical thinking is important.
To be honest, not all parents experienced traditional educational system in HK are capable of providng proper coaching to their children on Humanities.
Thanks to my husband's background and efforts, my son obtained very good results in Humanities.
Regarding the catering quality, the PTA had committee members attended the tuck shop during the lunch hours, they brought suggestions to improve the logistics, queuing efficiency, and quantity of food.
However, I did not bring that up to discussion because it seemed only my kid had complained about the taste.
