Talked to some of the PTA members, they said they have not heard anything from the Principal on this.  :(

GIPW, if really change from priavate to DSS....it will definately a bad news to all the current KG parents ah........with an offer from DSS, we cannot participate in lucky draw......not good, not good.........hope it is not true.......

Some update from the K2 who go for P1 interview.  They told me that some school will need them to do simple maths (plus and minus) and 認字.

Good to hear your sharing. I'm also trying to implant positive mindset. Whenever teacher gives some colouring homework (very rare really), I try to sound so enthusiastic, so i hope my son will think homework is a good thing in future :)

Ha ha,  I always need someone to neutralise me or it will be too extreme.  Gigi has finished the exam and has got the result back.  Still awaiting for the report from school to understanding her overall doings in school  :)

I strongly agree with your statement that if the mum feels that exam/test is a pressure, they will pass on this presure or thinking to their kid.

But well prepared is good start.  For example: From K2 onwards they may start to learn words, so do some revision at home.  Maths may start a bit early if your kid can cope with (but not many  parents will agree to this) so that he/she will not agraid of maths.  But bear in mind, don't be too pushy or you will get the opposite result.  This is always the GOLDERN RULE.

I think don't be too worried.  Children pressure comes from parents at early stage.  So if they could survive in the tough environment then they will have a good start.  I do not make assumption for them.  If you start to think exam is hard and sth of pressure, then you will start to pass this message to them.  In KCS there are 3 tests and 3 exams in a year, to most of the children, exams and tests are nothing, just part of their life and they know start to study when it comes to exam and tests.

Surprised to see this dormant thread suddenly reactivated : )  Dreamerbaby, if you are concerning the transition from KCS K3 to KCS P1, my niece's experience also confirmed GIPW's observation, the transition is very smooth.

As said, depends on what school you wish to apply in the future, if to the very top school, then early start is a plus as you are facing very keen competition in p1 where all the others are well prepared.

Thanks GIPW. Yeah life in P1 must be more demanding!

I suspect if I just go by KCS's teaching, it is likely to be insufficient for some other schools. However to go from KCS kindergarten to primary, is the transition smooth, based on your experience? Are the kids well-equipped to move to its own primary school?

I heard some other schools (which also have primary schools) do not connect well with its own primary school and so kids need to go and take up extra classes early. I wonder if it is the same case with KCS ?

Guess everyone is just busy.  We have just finished the exam last week so this week will be quite relax with us.

Are you trying to go to KCS P1 or some other school ?  I think the syllabus has changed a bit since we are in K2 & K3.  Someone told me that now in K2 will have a bit more writing.  Most K1 will only ask the kid to draw lines, they will not start with writing word so take it easy.

Whether you want your child to start earlier is all depends what you want your child to be.  Some parents want a bit of relax life but some would like their kids to have a earlier start.  I would say if you want to compete with the kids in the top school, then early start is essential.

Can you please tell me if it is hard to adapt from kindergarten to P1 given K1-3 is quite relaxed. Should we start learning maths/eng etc say in K2 to prepare for primary school?
