有無仔女讀緊耀中幼稚園 (Yew Chung) 可以分享吓?

耀中收咗我囡囡讀 2 Years Old Program,想問問大家如果將來讀 3 to 5  years old programme (half day),再考 local school 小一,唔知多數會考到邊間小學 ?

其實如果本身屋企唔係講英文, 無外籍姐姐, 到底入耀中學唔學到英文?

I found half kids can speak english well, while the other half are... just so-so.
thus,
I guess family education does matter in this case.
Maybe it depends on kid's language talents as well..

I think it is pushy if the school don't allow parents time to consider the offer.

Yew Chung's 2 year old program is really impressive. Teachers are very nice and experienced, and my son enjoys his school life and he is much more deciplined than he was in victoria!

The parents there are well-educated and kind, and some are just ordinary family like us, I mean, not very rich.

Moreover, my son gets accepted by several reputable kinders in KLT this year, which has shown yew chung has been quite effective in teaching!

However, most of my son's classmates will transfer to other kinders too.
The reason is that their cantonese is so fluent and improved while english is somewhat stay behind.
kinda worried about my son's english.

Is it hard to go to local primary school ?? Since they have their own primary school, I think most kids go to Yew Chung Primary, similar case to Victoria. Is their any statisitcs of entering which primary school ??

Hi foolish.mom,

I agree with u, I don't think it's money-oriented.  The school fee is all inclusive, for example, even we go to visit the farm orlibrary, we just need to pay $30 for one adult's round trip fee and the child is free.  Moreover, the teachers are very nice and really care the children.  I don't want to argue with others but I just want to share my experience.

Yew Chung's education philosophy is to educate every kid, irrespective of their abilities. So, they will accept applicants based on their sincerity towards the school, i.e. a first come first served basis. Basically, if it is your turn to have an interview, your kid is accepted.

I didn't have the feeling that YC is money oriented.  Especially for kindergarten, the tuition is all inclusive. In my opinion, some other IS in HK are more money oriented and with more rich people.

Don't go there except your intention going there is hanging around with rich ppls. I was outrageous with their money-mind approach. for those who worries their kids are not accepted by YC...don't worry...you will make it for sure if you got MONEY. My kids studied there and I was astounded by how they treat my kids. ANyway, it was by far the worst experience I've ever been through. I know it is not nice to say such words here...but I don't want anymore mishaps happens.

The SOLE reason I didn't let my child go to YC..... on the phone, they told me all the details, interview time... how full they are... then the receptionist said (as mentioned above)... "Oh, please remember to bring your chequebook."

I bluntly asked her, why do I need to bring a chequebook when my daughter hasn't even been interviewed? She basically hinted, unless there are special reasons, my kid will be accepted.

Among all my friends who have interviewed at YC, who have attended YC, and who are still at YC..... conclusion, it's a money oriented school, very high tuitions, not much return in value, and if you have the MONEY, your kid will be accepted.

Agree with some previous comments that the teachers are nice. However, as an international school, it is NOT up to par. Bottomline is that it is NOT an international school. Students there speak Cantonese most of the time. English standard is poor. Also, its a rip off and their management is ridiculous.

Don't worry about the interview. They accept every kid. oh, just make sure you bring your cheque book because that's what they really want from you. and you won't have time to decide since they want you to make the decision right away, or otherwise, they claim you will lose the seat. btw, you pay one whole year (12 months) of tuition but only goes to school for 10 months. That's in the fine print.

Bottomline: if you want a real international school, there are better ones out there. if you want a local school, there are better ones out there.

YC will accept every child as they believe every child can beeducated.  So don't worry even you child will cry in the interview. You need to pay the money for one month first but they will has arefund if u inform them before the deadline, but  I can't remember howlong.  The Two programme is really very good!

Hi e-cat,

Thanks for your information, it was very useful.  My son is just over 1.5 yrs old, he'll be 2 this September.  But my son will cry very easily if he sees stranger, will that make the school reject him?  I like the school after I went to the introductory meeting last thursday.  I think certain degree of freedom is good for a child's development as there will be room for creativity.  Although some people commented that the English level is not high as compared to other international schools, I think it's not a big concern for me as I'm sure it's not difficult for him to pick up in the future.

But since I have another interview at the end of May at a local kindergarten, do I have to make a decision right away at Yew Chung or can I wait till the end of the month??

jjbaby,

yes, I can say that your kid has been accepted.

From my experience, when YC got my daughter's application, they promptly arranged the interview for her.  Before the interview, they also reminded us to bring the cheque.  For half day class, the monthly tuition fee is HK$5,550.  For full day class, the montly tuition fee is HK10,340.  So it's really depended which class you will choose for your kids for the payment.

Also, the interview is not really an interview.  The principal will just ask you if you have any questions to ask them.  If not, just pay the cheque.  Very simple.

How old is your kid?

Hi, Annie,

I surely agree with your views.  I had been to school visit and noticed that all the kids are cantonese speaking.  English seems not as strong as the school claims.  But this is the same situation in Victoria where my daughter attended playgroup.  I think this situation happening in all the local (claimed "international") kindergartens.  However, for pre-nursery, I think it's OK.  In addition, as my daughter is English speaking baby, it might be good for her to learn more Cantonese in school.

I noticed that the Chinese teachers are more caring than those English teachers at YC.  This is also same as at Victoria.  The English teachers always look very lazy and not in the mood in school.  Hope that their principals can notice about this.
