Is Chinese a compulsory subject for them? Do they teach simplify or traditional chinese characters?
It should be "compulsory" in both Kinder and Primary, but i guess since the kids are so young they will not know how to "refuse" a compulsory subject. And most IS will not set anything as "compulsory" anyway. They will try to guide the student to learn something instead if duck-feeding!
Not sure if all ESF primary the same or not. My son is in KJS. Chinese is compulsory, daily lesson, using simplified characters. Dictation every Monday. Worksheets from time to time.
