行IB 既學校

除左維多利亞, 蔡繼有, Kingston, 耀中, St Paul Co ed, 新男拔, 同埋d好貴既國際學校, 之外仲有邊間小學會行IB呢?

前日聽啱啱响美國大學畢業嘅世姪女講，原來美國啲大學較睇重AP (Advanced Placement)多過 IB，因為AP嘅考試無論「難度」及「美國大學認受性」都較IB為優。如果有志升讀美國各名牌大學嘅朋友，可能早點到美國考AP會更好。

IB未必一定適合所有學生，尤其係以考試訓練出嚟嘅香港學生。睇睇呢篇article，就連英國高材生(即考試叻嘅學生)修讀IB都會觸礁：

Not agree!

If fact, education style in these countries are much more active then HK.  As you stated, the students move from country to country, they have very high ability to accept changes and are very flexible. So they have no problem to step in the IB programe at any time.  For HK student,  the earlier they start the IB programe, the better.

I can say Li Po Chun United World College of HK that is not the kind of DSS you refered.  Actually, you can google all information in regarding to this college in the web without any problem.  This college is a real international school, which accepts all students from all around the world.  If a school askes the school fee for  2009/2010 up to HK$192,000, this school will still be a DSS in general sense; then it is a DSS.

　　(星島日報報道)本港已有十四所國際及私立學校開設國際文憑預科課程（IB Diploma），近年經常出產滿分狀元。國際預科文憑組織（IBO）早前與英國高等院校招生辦公室（UCAS），達成IB分數對照的協議，於IB考獲及格的廿四分，已略高於英國高考（GCE A level）取得二A的分數，令IB學生考入英國名牌學府更具優勢。

　　根據UCAS的分數對照表，英國高考一科A等於UCAS的一百二十分，新增的A*級則為一百四十分，近日公布的二○一○年IB Diploma對照表則顯示，IB取得廿四分及格已相等於UCAS的二百六十分，滿分四十五分則等如七百二十分。換言之，IB及格已等於高考取得兩科A級

，廿九分已達高考三優水平，滿分更等於高考六科A級。

　　本港學生的IB成績斐然，如去年沙田香港李寶椿聯合世界書院出產三名取得四十五分的狀元，約兩成三人更獲四十分以上。耀中國際學校中學部亦有約四分一人考獲四十分或以上。

Then I got another question is "why Li Po Chun could be allowed to provided IBD only."

i heard about this letter back in 2007 from school principal. I guess it is reasonable that government want to spent money on our own exam system.

we can creat/ are creating our own IB system.

what I know about IBDP is that it is not suitable for every student, it is actually a difficult course, demanding.

Personally, I must admit I know v little about IB requirements. I understand it is mainly project based education. It would appear to me that project is output, which should follow input. Hence it seems good sense to me that primary school, at least junior primary ie up till P4, that schools concentrate on input before they talk about output/ project/ IB. My 2 cents worth.

Maybe this is the fact that no DSS school that only provides IBDP. If you really want it, you may consider PLK Choi Kai Yau School or Victoria Shanghai Acedemy. I heard that these schools would offer only IBDP in their Grade 11 & 12. And the school fees of these schools are not that high comparing to other international schools.

However, I consider that a school offering both IBD and HKDSE is an advantage. In a seminar held in CSS, the parents were told that they could select either IBDP and HKDSE at their own choice. Principal Cheung of CSS further explained that not every his student wanted to study IBD eventually. Then, they would be able to get a suitable exit when they finished their junior secondary years. Principal Cheung said that he could not tell how many students at the end of his school's first F.4 would choose either IBD or HKDSE.

I believe that even in HKUGA College, not all parents want their children to study IBD. If the HKUGA is approved to offer the IBDP only, many parents must make compliants to Education Bureau too. On the other hand, if HKUGA operates another college to run IBDP only without government's direct subsidy, its school fee must be comparative to the current fees of PLK and VSA.

The truth is that there is no DSS school that only provides IBDP. I am looking forward to seeing such a school.

I know some parents of hkuga were very disappointed when hkuga announced to give up the IBDP.  Some suggested using legal way to challenge the EDB not to allow hkuga to provide all IBDP classes. hkuga also said it would consider to establish a new school to provide IBDP only. I don't know the details.

政府有意在本港資助試辦各種不同的學制, 包括 DSS, PIS, IS, through-train.... 而批核CSS試辦 IB 學制的 DSS 就是只中一項.

It has come to our attention that a number of DSS schools have indicated their intention to offer IBDP. We wish to re-iterate that as stated in the Education and Manpower Bureau Circular Memorandum No. 532/99 issued on 22 September 1999, DSS schools are required to offer principally a curriculum targeted at local students and prepare them for local examinations..........
