PurpleSea,
1) TSL got much cheaper school fee.
2) Want to let my son try local school and see if he can fit into local school or not.
3) My daughter is in TSL so that two kids can go to school together every day.
4) Want him to have a better Chinese standard.
I can say I like both schools even though they have totally different syllabus. For my son, he always claim that he likes RC more.
I don't know much english primary schools in HK. I only know three schools, that is TSL, CKY and St. Margaret. My kids are in TSL. I can say this is a good school with high english and chinese standard. If you want to stay in an international school with certain chinese standard, I would recommand RC. My son was there last year. RC is also an excellent school we do really like it.
No matter how you have been immersed in 100% English environment before, children studying in local schools will communicate with Cantonese unless the school policies and incentives of using English have educated them enough to use English ....right?
On the other hand, if their Chi is not good enough, their lang development is not 'healthy' as local schools foster Bilingualism and Triliteracy .....Quite annoying
Wanna get some advice. I am still at the cross road: IS vs local school. Both has its own pros and cons. And my son is now only 15 months and it might be too early to decide which type of school system fits him the best. In that case, what kind of kinder/nursery should I look for. Do you think Victoria and Tutor Time would be a choice?
I don't think kids from IS kinder will have significant problem in DSS P1 interview. For example, story-telling should be one of the strong points for IS kids.
However, I do agree that it might be difficult for kids coming from IS kinders to go for the local P1 syllabus.

小朋友本身讀 IS, 到適齡, 是可以考本地小學的小一. 不過, 本地小一interview所要求的, 讀開 IS 的小朋友就未必應付得到.
