DGJS 要搬去將軍澳,好似好遠!學校環境麻麻地!但學生所學到既嘢好全面,活d!個個女仔都好bright!

St. Paul co-ed 新校舍very nice! 學生相比dgs 比較 humble, 無咁活!

課程相比 dgs 深d!

I agree with anxiousparent too!  If the girl is self confident and assertive, go for DGJS.  That's why I always think my girl is a DGJS type.  But on the other hand, I always ask myself, since she's so self-confident and assertive, should I put her to SPCC instead?  Because if she gets in DGJS, it's more competitive and she might fight more to get what she wants.  And at the end, she'll be more stressful.  At SPCC, she'll learn to be more humble and be more well balance.  Of course, she's just accepted by SPCC now, so maybe it's 緣份 too.  

And honestly, I'm not worried about whether she'll get used to the school with the opposite style of herself.  My girl is very adaptive, and esp. for kids, when all the friends around her doing the same thing, following the same way, she'll believes that's the right way.  And since SPCC focuses on 德育, that's what I'm really looking for.

yes and no lar ...

On the positive side, sending a girl to a school with an "opposite" character may help to change her (to make an assertive girl become more obedient, or to make a submissive girl become more assertive).  But the fear is that the child may not suit the "school style" (and the style of the friends around her).

But as a parent I have a question in my mind for quite some time...  If my child is 乖乖 and submissive, will the opposite type of school actually help him/her becoming more confident and assertive?

Same for music vs. sport.  If my child is good at music but bad at sport, should I actually send him/her to a school that is good at sport, with the intention to improve the "weakness"?

what I say here is purely personal and instinctive.

If you believe your girl is self confident and assertive, go for DGJS.  

If you believe your girl is 乖乖 and submissive type, go to SPCC.  

In terms of academic and extra curricular activities standards, (my hubmle view based on my observations of kids of people I know - and different people have different observations):

DGS girls stronger than SPCC girls.

But SPCC boys stronger than DBSPD boys.  

Mind you, SPCC only began to be more active in inter school extra curricular activities in recent years (music was the only one it took part in in teh old days).  In the 70's and 80's it kept to itself, and regarded other schools (and extra curricular activities) as beneath it.  Ask people who went there in the 70's and 80's and you will understand.

Yes, the certificate is awarded by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music.

另外Mrs. Dai也給她一幅圖畫﹐叫她形容圖畫中看到的。因為我女兒是答先﹐所以Mrs. Dai 沒有問她圖書既問題。 其實我個女是差不多最後個一兩日 interview的﹐起初還以為她的機會不大。

我覺得除了面試表現外﹐小朋友平時參加既公開比賽和公開考試成績都好重要。最好係音樂方面都參加一些認可校試﹐作為學校參考。 我女兒是在聖保祿幼X園就讀的。

Twobigeyes, do you mind sharing which kindergarten your daughter goes to?  Did your daughter tell you how was she doing at the DGJS interview?  Like did you feel she's doing very good at the interview? (Because I wondered in just 3-5mins, how could they tell the girl is the right one or not?)

Well, you can also ask your daughter if she wants a boy & girl school or a girl school.

我好開心﹐DGS真是收左我個女。但係現在真的唔知點揀。SPCC 同 DGS 都是那麼好﹐我諗我一定要問多些有子女讀這兩間學校既朋友﹐然後再仔細分析﹐看看那間學校比較適合我的女兒。

As what I've wished for, DGJS rejected my daughter!  I don't have to make choice between DGJS and St. Paul co-ed! No need to be trouble anymore! From now on, she's confirmed to be a family member of St. Paul co-ed!  And we will work hard together.  DGJS 真無眼光! 從此以後,在任何比賽上,我們便成為敵人!

我覺得我們做父母的，應了解自己小朋友的性格，據SPCCPS李校長所講，他們是德育行先，故我認為在SPCCPS 1st Int 時，小朋友的言行是他們最為留意的，相反學術較為次要，原因他們相信乖巧、有禮貌的小朋友，其學業成績也不會差到那裡去！另外，以我所知，小朋友在SPCCPS每學年要自行閱讀80本英課外書，尚未計中文課外書籍，再加上日常上課的課本，我覺得已經是很足夠的了。至於英文的深淺，也只是觀點與角度罷了！別忘記，學習並不是愈深愈好，原因承受壓力的，不只是自己的小朋友，還有自己和配偶也要在工餘後分擔！

Honestly, I really hope DGJS won't accept my daughter because I really don't want to make the choice between DGJS and St. Paul co-ed.  But on the other hand, if DGJS really rejected her, I'll be very upset because I really think my daughter is the type of DG girls. (Although I've once thought my boy was the type of DB boys too before and he was finally rejected by DB a few years ago!) hehe

So...........

Anyway, I went to the open day of co-ed last week but I found out their work was not as hard as expected (esp. comparing to DBS!  The DBS kids' english compositions were so outstanding.  They used very difficult words that you couldn't imagine the pieces were written by P1 or P2 kids.)  So I believe DGJS should be almost the same standard as DBS.  

Well maybe, DGJS or DBS's english are more outstanding than St. Paul co-ed but on the other hand, St. Paul co-ed's chinese and math are more outstanding.  Any comment?
