My friend told me that after his elder son studied in SC, she found that only in K1 got the NET in class. From K2, 1 NET is shared among various classes (only ~ 20-30 mins a day). Does anyone know thi ...
Although NET is shared among various classes, i don't think it's a big deal as you don't expect the NET can help in Chinese class. So during those classes with Chinese learning, the NET will go to other class.
My kid is in K2 E/P and I do not spend much on her homework except on writing as teachers recommend the parents to work with them to keep an eye on 筆順 so that they write it correctly. Starting on K2, they need to hand in the homeworks on arrival to the classroom and packs their own schoolbag to train their independence. As I know some parents send their kids to Eng class etc to prepare for P1 interview as their targets are on DGS, GH etc. and for K1 students, some parents may want to get their girls to admit CCKG so they will take extra course outside school.
One thing is that St. Cat emphasis on 親子 activities ie. doing homeworks, go outings, reading etc. They encourage kids on reading.
Most of the students are quite active and the school trains them to be more confident in public speaking as kids are need to stand in front of the class to do 'show and tell', parents prepare the news and explain to the kid and the kid will tell it to the class and sometimes they need to tell story in front of the class. My girl is a shy one and I saw great improvement on her that she is not afraid of talking with strangers.
For chinese - K2 now starts to write 男女, they have a vocabulary book had some chinese words on one side and the other one , we need to picture about their words to stick on it. This week talks about winter and talks about 火鍋、運動 last week 消防員、警察 and the kids had to recognize it so I don't think the chinese level in St. Cat is low.
But the most important thing is the school is suitable for your own kid and what type of school does you want your child to have (traditional teaching or activity based). For both SC and KV, students go to traditional or DSS primary school and they do well there. So just choose the kindergarten that you think your kids will be happy in the school life. |
