SFA gave written test for the kids on interview day, please discuss

My daughter had attended the interview in SFA on today. After the interview, I asked her what sorts of question the teacher had asked. She told me that she had to draw a picture and performed direct interview with teacher by English, cantonese and PTH. She also had to write the answers on the paper after listening some likely a English story or sentences.  Is it true to all kids?
please discuss because it is not supposed to have any written tests by the primary school postulated by the Education Department.
Is it allowed to do like that?

you should call the school after the second round lucky draw becoz some applicants may give up the seats if they get the good subsidise school like la salle, maryknoll...etc

btw, my daughter love going to school even there are lots of hw and test. I feel the teachers there are good to the kids as they are doing lots to upgrade them, you can see they make alot of  worksheets for the kids.

there is a mom saying her daughter got a seat in Maryknoll P2 after studied 1 yr in SFA, but her daugher didn't want to go to Maryknoll after studying a short period of time because it was too easy compare with SFA. She then returned to SFA and quit Maryknoll. but her daughter is now in secondary school also in Maryknoll, she was admitted in maryknoll and st paul convent but since maryknoll is free, so she pick maryknoll. I am sure if your kids can catch up the school, they can get a good secondary school and no need to worry.

since the school is having exam next week, I am busy busy now, let's share my experience later when I have time. don't worry too much la

If you kid is accepted, the letter is lost by mail. The school will not announced the result through internet.  So how can we know if the kid is accpeted.  Go to the school and see the result posted on the board.  Waste of time if the kid is failed. I can't remember whether the school took 2 self-addressed envelopes from us. If yes, the school should inform the failed applicant through mail. Poor arrangement!

Hello, Bau, thank you for your sharing. You said if candidates failed in the first round of SFA's entrance exam, they could send letter to SFA after the lucky draw to request for another chance. Do you mean the lucky draw in June or the 第一輪自行派位in November? And does SFA prefer 大仔/女? If yes, I think my son's chance is low as he is 細仔:(

Thanks for your information.
Can you also share how's the conduct of students and how are the teachers in SFA?  Some parents said SFA focus too much on study therefore conduct of students are not very good.

From the first day of applying this school, you should know that they are above the average of other schools as it is a private school and most of the girls and boys can get a good secondary school after P6.

I can say they are really harsh and if you are studying in those enjoyable kinder, you may find difficult when you first enter the P1.

lots of exam and test and dict and also they are teaching very fast.

but if you can workout for the first year, then P2 will be better because you have already adapt to it.
there is some students fail to go to P2 so u better make sure yr kids pass in eng, chi and maths.

but if you fail in the first round, they allow you to join the second round after the announcement of lucky draw, but u didn't join the first interview, they won't consider u after the lucky draw.

so if i were u , even fail in first round, please send letter to them after the lucky draw if u still want to get the seat in this school, they will consider u if your kids academic result is good and also have some awards in any activities.

good luck to all of you and I trust you will satisfy with this school if your kid study here. (but of course u will have alot of complains on the heavy workload too)

totally agree... but no choice still need to go... 唔睇唔死心!

If they can send letter earlier than 14/11, it will help a bit ge.

I haven't applied this school for my child (simply because I coudn't bear too many).

But I have no odd feeling about the interview format of this school,

--this is a private school, not a gov't subsided school, it can have its own preference; for me, the Edu Dept. can only advise, not order the school

--as from the others sharing, this is not a written test, in my opinion; even everyday homework in most K3 requires more than writing ABC

--This school's syllabus is a bit more difficult than average, as comment by many; the questions asked in the interview suit its style and requirment; more difficult questions immediately help the school screen out its target group;  different formats of interview will screen out different candidates; the school is only looking for its desired candidates; nothing wrong

我本來都覺得聖芳濟各係女拔後first choice.但果日in完kts, 又覺得kts都吾差喎, 佢公佈2008年派位都幾好. (當然冇sfa咁好啦), 但如果亞囡在kts考前10名, 派番協恩或女拔都應該ok
不過kts貴過sfa成1萬蚊1年...但學校環境又靚好多 ..唉.. 收左再唸啦!!

If it is a good school, don't worry about the environment, as I believe most of the parents will let their children take the school bus, if so, there's nothing to do with it....
