I bought some Montessori toys from SOGO as well.  but I haven't tried the Phonics with my son yet.  Only tried those Cyclinder, color, souond bottle with him.  He still cannot say full sentence.. I don't know if I can start to teach Phonics now or not.   But he can say "Wa-ter" when he want to drink.  
Can your child start to speak yet ?

I bought the sandpaper letter from Montessori Corner.  It seems they are now doing promotion! you can go to their website to take a look ! :)

oh, 17 months can start to use sandpaper letters!  I can try to teach my son then ! :)
