拔萃小學(津校)一問?

想問一問:
a)小兒現就讀普通的幼稚園,唔知難唔難入津校的拔萃呢?
b)拔萃學校有分津校或直資,有d人話津校差咗,唔知係咪呢?
c)津校拔萃小學同中學脫鈎後,升中的派位又如何呢?
d)大約幾多%入返英中或brand 1中學呢?
e)由於本人有一仔一女,若入讀此校是否都適合呢?

May I know some info about DPS.

1) S1 allocation in the recent years. How many % of the P6 students are allocated to band 1 school?
2) Are the teachers well-experienced? over 10 years.
3) Any chance for cross-district allocation.

I have a question.  If you have to 跨區報 DPS under the round 1 "自行分配學位", doesn't that mean you don't live in Zone 41?  

Then, how can you be eligible for 第二輪的大抽獎?
Please advise how you can have DPS as a 大抽獎 choice.

洗埋禮都係得 20 分 (若首名子女的話), 20 分唔駛諗架喇 ! 淨係有哥哥 or 家姐係度讀緊 & 爹地係 old boys 果 d 都已經 over 晒 part 1 d quota 喇, 領洗的 20 分連抽都無得抽 !

Dear itbaby,

a)  The kids and teachers communicate in Cantonese outside lessons.  All subjects (except Chinese, Social Studies & PTH) and school events are conducted in English.  Teaching is thorough and in-depth at school, so if the child pays attention during lessons, he should have no problems doing the homework (2-3 per day) at home.  The school encourages extensive reading (one Chinese and one English story books per week with worksheets) and English writing (one free-writing per week).  English textbooks are from UK, so they will learn English in breaths but losing the benefits of structured learning which is designed for non-English speakers like in other schools using Longman, etc.

b)  Being an all boys' school for so many years in the past,  the teachers have plenty of experience of dealing with active boys in the most civilised way.

c)  The first round is a bit difficult for 15 marks.  May be you should wait for the 2nd round lucky draw.

The school uses PTH to teach Chinese Language and stresses heavily on Maths.

b)其實這間學校是否適合比較活潑好動的男孩子呢,我擔心囝囝被老師當為攪事的學生,他喜歡郁來郁去的,坐唔定果種,但又喜歡答問題喎?
c)仲有第一輪報"自行分配學位"時,由於囝囝只得15分(我哋要跨區報讀),咁我咪好難入囉,或者要等第二輪的"大抽獎?

My son is studying in DPS and the eldest one has gone to DPS.

a) DBS is a subsidy school, all P.1s are admitted through the government scheme, so it doesn't matter which kindergarten your son is in.

b) Compare to before (when there was entrance exam), of course the students' standard is falling, but the teaching standard remains as high.  Academic standard depends on the students.  If the child is of average intelligence and prepared well (english wise), with good family support, I am sure he/she would excel in DPS.

c & d) It is not clear right now because at present, 85% go to DBS, the remaining 15% may be with poor marks, by logic they will not go to band 1 secondary schools.  If you can get the TSA results (which is not disclosed to the public), it may give you indication how many band 1 places are allocated to DPS in 2011 (DPS-DBS feeder system ends in 2009/2010 P.6).

e) DPS takes in both boys & girls, so the school has to admit all the siblings.
