Local universities actually prefer students from international school than from local schools. One that I know actually give prority to international school students who have weaker public exam grades than local students who have better grades.
One particular case I know is that one girl who got 1B, 1C and !D from A-L exam from a UK high school got into a very competitive business program which would definitely turn down any local candidates with the same grades.
Sorry, cannot tell you which uni cause it's too political.
My understanding was that local students apply through JUPAS and other students (including local international schools) have to apply through non-JUPAS. I would have thought that they are 2 different systems of application procedures.
However, I do agree that the lecturers themselves do like students from international schools a lot more. At least, this is what I heard from a few lecturers I know, and there have been a few newspaper articles saying the same thing. |
