German Swiss International school parents, pls help!

Dear GSIS parents,

My daughter was born in 2004 and I will send the Y1 application for 2009. My questions are:
1. Any comment about the school year 1 programme?
2. When will the school finish daily. I heard that the school will start at 7:30am, what time will they finish?
3. Any after school activities for year 1 student? Is the school fee included or I need to pay for the extra fee?
4. How's the school bus service? Are you happy with it?

Dear christy, thanks for your details information. By the way, is GSIS doing IB or GCSE exam for secondary students? If doing GCSE, what subject they can choose? GCSE have any plan go for IB in coming years? For secondary students, normally they will join school after school activities or others? Thanks?

Hi christf,

Thank you very much for your sharing.  I would like to apply K1 for my girl in this coming year, would it be too late for me to do so? Besides, her first language is still Cantonese, would the school put this into consideration when conducting the interview? And is it really hard to get in?  What are the school's expectation in accepting students?

The teacher and/or helping moms will conduct guided reading at school for the daily reading book but will only cover a few pages and not the whole book. Then, the parents are requested to conduct the guided reading for their kids at home using the daily reading book.

Could you explain more on "guided reading"? Is that different books have different "guilded reading"? How long does it take for parents to conduct it at home per day?
