Hi hinhinma,

The referral system is changed starting from 1-1-2008, for example, if u join one language, it's $1100 per month, if u paid 5 months in advance, then it will be $5,500 for 6 months .  The referral fee for both of u and me will be $550.  If u join two languages, then the fee is $2200 per month, if u paid 5 months in advance, then it will be $11000 for 6 months and the referral fee for both of u and me is $1100.  Actually this system will have a higher rebate, as in past u need to join  at least two languages but the referral fee is only $1000.

My son just take his first jolly phonics class at in 東山 last Sat.  Surprisingly, he didn't learn any phonics sounds in that class.  He has been learning jolly phonics in other centre.  So he knows some sounds already.  I am so disappointed that my son told me that the teacher didn't teach any phonics sound in that class.  There is no worksheet given in the class (usually they give out worksheet eg "s" sound for each class).  I was then told that she was very green and that was her (the teacher) first class teaching phonics.  I was so surprised.  I expected that all tutors should be qualified jolly phonics tutor.  If the teacher is in the class, she is supposed to teach phonics  (beacause that is a jolly phonics class, right?).  I was very crossed and I sent my concerns through e-mail last week.  Surprisingly, nobody answered my e-mail till today.  I am very disappointed about this centre.

  My son (3.5 years old) is attending the Japanese course in Tsim Sha Tsui now(from Sept).  He likes the Japanese teacher very much.  The teacher is very nice and loves children very much.  Every Friday, he is expecting to see the Japanese teacher.  That's why I think it is ok to study languages there.  Moreover, the receptionists there are very nice and willing to do "special" arrangements for parents.  That means you don't have to worry if your child is sick or you have something special to do and you cannot attend that lesson.  It's because they are willing to rearrange the time for you or postpone the lesson.  No money will be wasted.

Of course, the fee is quite high (to me). If you only attend one kind of language once a week (just like what my son does), it costs $260 per hour if you pay 10 lessons.  If you are willing to pay 20 lessons, it wil be $250 per hour.
