I have been following this topic for a couple of days trying to see what other parents say. I really think that it is so difficult to answer the question.....
Why I feel St Paul's is a good school for my son?
1. Is it because the caring and understanding of the teachers?
Every time I wrote or talked to them, all of them gave me positive feedback or support. (When my son did his first test in P1 years ago, he missed a whole page of the question paper :!) Eventhough he passed the test, I was still so worried and called the class teacher. The teacher talked to me very nicely. She comforted me and gave me some constructive advice. I have to admit that my son is sometimes quite naughty or moody  , but I've never worried about anyone discriminating or picking on my son.
2. Is it because the school provides a good environment for all-round development to the boys?
No matter a child is good in academic, sports, music, art, singing, design, calligraphy..... or a lot of things that you can think of or not ever thought of...., his achievements would be recognised by the school. It runs so many activities/contest/competitions in a year that at least one may suit a child's interest or ability. My son may even have a chance to go to NASA in his summer holiday ..... if I can afford the time and money to go with him !
3. Is it because the school praises the good performers and helps the less good performers to catch up at the same time?
There are so many scholarships for the top achievers....... if my son works hard or behaves well enough .... There are also catch up classes for those in need...... if my son is lazy or bad enough .
......................It is really really difficult to make it specific why I think the school is good for my son......it is not a simple math question like 1+1 and the answer is 2! May be if the one who asks the question can raise more specific questions, then other parents would be more willing to share their experience and information.
Any way, no matter what other people says, my son told me that he's getting happier every year at his school. He loves his school and "some" of the teachers (of course, he also hates a few who made him work very hard. Ha! Ha! Ha!). He aims to study at the College years later, and I think he will.
To me, I never feel regret about picking this school for him. With a reasonable amount of homework, he got a chance to develop a good habit of reading books and newspapers (though he is a bit "addicted" already.....he still sometimes reads books under the drawer in the class....as the teachers last told me  ). He also has time to join a lot of ECAs. He never goes tutoring classes, 'cos he got a 24-hr tutor (ME) at home. He roughly got one activity per day on average (some were arranged by school and some by me at home.) Though he loves (or "is addicted to") reading very much, he is not a book worm in any sense ....he won prizes in the Swimming Gala, Sports Day, Speech Festival, School Singing Contest..... at his school. This helps so much to build up his self-confidence. He still got chances to develop his own interest like fencing, kung fu, young reporter.....etc
The most important thing is : he definitely is not one of the top achievers in school yet.... but he is an honest, happy and confident boy..... and that is what I and my hubby want since my son was borne !

連我個仔都話學校個nat teacher都唔係咁講英文....
