Boxhill Ma On Shan

Can anyone tell me things about Boxhill Ma On Shan?  I'm thinking of sending my kids to it.

I've heard from a relative and some neighbours living in
Ma On Shan that students in higher forms of RC are not
well-disciplined as most of them were former
Phoenix students. Their images are not as good as the
ones in Shatin Junior School or ICS. So, my relative
advised me not to enrol my kid in Boxhill. I was told that
ICS in Fotan is far better than Boxhill in terms of teaching
methods and language proficiency. Pls comment.

Hi!my daughter is studying in BoxHill K.2 and she was accepted by the RC.We had the interview in RC ,not in BoxHill this year.Because RC replied they are shortage of teacher.And i did enquire the principle of BoxHill.she said she could not help in this this matter.:恭:

Boxhill's Principal was a friendly lady and the teachers there are also good too.  

I consulted with the Principal during my son's interview for nursery, she told me that there is no connection between RC and Boxhill.  RC will send an interviewer to the school to select kids because the English standard of their kids can meet the requirements of RC.

If the kids cannot be offered seats in RC, SJS or other international schools after completed K2, I think they should continue to complete K3 and look for a place in local primary school.

A teacher told me that the Chinese standard of their kids is not bad.

Are there any K2 kids in Boxhill got no offer at all from
RC or Shatin Junior? I am thinking of placing my kid there but I am worried that not all K2 kids can be offered places in either RC or SJS. Actually, is there any connection
between RC and Boxhill?

My friend told me that RC will send interviewers to Boxhill during the interview period so that students in Boxhill do
not need to attend the interview in RC. Is it true? Are Boxhill students given a higher priority in RC?

Thanks Angusbbma. Very useful information cos I am still pondering between International & local primary for my son. Can you tell me what is DGS? I am not very familiar with these abbreviates.

Between Boxhill and Think, I personally like the attitude and teaching method of Boxhill's Principal rather than Think.

Sorry for late reply
I dun mind there is only in-door playground for my kid. I think I will more concern about Safety. Boxhill had 2 playground for the kids and I think is quite good. I remember I had visited one KG in Heng Fa Chun ( I used live there) and the KG had an out-door playground.....it is a bit dirty.And I thinkit is quite difficult for the teacher to handle the kids at out-door's area rather then in-door.

Hi Mammy-Peggy,

As far as I know, Beacon Hill's competition is very high, however, I also know one of my friend's daughter had been accepted by Beacon Hill while her parent's english are just so so.  Sometimes it depends on our luck (or may be your son's luck).

Anyway, RC is not bad, I heard a lot good word of mouth from the student's parents.

If I were you, I would choose Boxhill instead of ESF Tsing Yi if I planned to place my kid in RC.

i haven't heard "Anchors Int'l Junior School" before, but tai po is too far away from my home. i don't want my boy to have a long distance travel to school every day... anyway, thanks for your info.

i'm also planning to send my boy to study at ESF primary school, but i've heard that the competition of places is very keen. as both my husband and i are local chinese and english is not our native language, i'm afraid the chance of my boy to be admitted to ESF is very low. in addition, as we live in tsuen wan, we can only apply for Beacon Hill School which catchment area is so huge... even after studying at esf kindergarten, he still can't be admitted to Beacon Hill School. and we need to find another international school for him, such as RC. so, i'm thinking if whether studying at esf kindergarten or boxhill can also lead him to RC, why not pick a cheaper one but with the same (or similar) teaching quality?

You may also consider "Anchors Int'l Junior School" in Tai Po. Actually is is the new Int'l section with a totally new and big campus of "Anchors Kindergarten and Int'l Nursery". This is a new int'l school which only provides kindergarten this year and primary may be starting from next year.

My daughter was a former student and as far as I know student from the Int'l section got high admitted rate to SJS. My girl and some of her previous classmates also are studying at SJS now.
