我囡囡讀hkps (kln tong) 同st.catherine 差不多形式.
holy angel 同st mary 接龍, 問過holy angel , 佢地指如果品學上沒有太大問題, 就會直上中學, 否則就不是接龍, 當然有留班制度,多過一次留班, 就自己/學校會決定去向.

選擇直資, 政府也有資助, 也不算得十分唔抵. (曾有bk媽咪(JP)話政府資助直資既錢比津貼學校每個學生每年只係少2萬多咋)
但如果私校, 就真係享受不到政府的任何福利, 但稅你又一樣交喎! 除非那私校有其他你好想要既野係直資和津貼學校也俾唔到你啦, 或有多餘錢啦!

Which kindergarten does your daughter study now ?
My daughter is studying St Catherine now.
I am not sure she is suitable for studyng in Holy Angel or
another other kind of primary school. May be it is too
earlier for me to make decision. Personally, I prefer her to
study in English primary school. This is one of the point
why I still consider Holy Angel is suitable to her or not.
Otherwise, I am not sure whether St Mary Secondary
Schoool had enough quote to accept all students in St
Mary Primary and Holy Angel.
Do you have any info ?

母校: 天神, 一條龍上ST MARY.
小囡一直都接受外籍老師活動教學.
expectation : 不一定要讀名校, 只要學校質素好. 程度適中.
有外籍老師當班主任更佳.
catch up : 現在老師指, 傳統 / 活動都可以. 當然活動會開心d.
協助方面 : 可以, 但怕影響大家關係. 另外, 一想到, 每天都是做功課/ 溫習, 就有點覺得  (本人是housewife, 有maid 協助家務)

現在只是覺得 放棄 12 年免費教育, 而選擇 直資/ 私小, 是否很傻, 而經濟上, 可以付出學費, 但就儲蓄不到. ( 因本人有2 個囡 )

但看小囡性格 / 本人意願, 都想活動教學會比較適合.
如要放棄 12 年免費教學, 又好似很傻 !
大家覺得如何好 ?
經濟方面 : 中產
母校 : 算很好的學校 (唯一, 很傳統, 程度深 )

If you have registered with a DSS school. you have no right to take a place at P1 admission. IF you are offered a place in the 1st round, it will be withdrawn. But if you have registered with a private school, you can still take part in the 1st and 2nd round. However, Government might inform the private school you have registered and some private schools state clearly that your offer will be withdrawn or put on waiting list if you choose 2nd lucky draw. So whether to go it or not, really depends the marks you have. My suggestion is if you have less than 20 marks, you might probably think to go for DSS unless you want to make a try at lucky draw. For those who have 20 marks (so many i think), it is really hard for you to make a decision.

真唔好意思我阿女2年後才小一,係我預前倣吓資料準備.
事原上星期我聽老公個friend個老婆講 (佢個仔都係下年入小一), 如果1st round 收咗,學校會收咗張form, 到時直資收都無用,嚇到我死.你知啦我未聰過學校D briefing, 所以無咩資訊,但我就唔係好信佢,都係問吓其它家長好D.
我見11月1st round就公佈結果,但DGS & St Paul Co Edu好似
12月定1月先知結果.咁可唔可以confirm 1st round 間津校,再等其它直資結果.唔知可唔可以咁貪心呢?

當然可以啦﹗第一階段是可以的, 但如您選了直資, 就不能再玩大抽獎﹗我同個 CASE 一樣, 我第一階段都有 20分, 暫有一間私校收左, 另有一間直資會再 SECOND IN. 二間私校未考, 都時收埋我仔, 我就頭痛啦﹗您呢？有冇報其他學校？

Agree very much with what your experienced friend said.  However, for secondary stage, most important thing is the study atmosphere in school and among the peers, and the self-motivation of students themselves, as they have grown up and will no longer listen to parents so much.  So if there is any insufficiency in primary stage, parents can still help to supplement at home, but cannot help any more in secondary stage.  So I believe that a good secondary (have high quality teachers and students, not necessarily very famous) is more important than primary (no matter govt, DSS or private).

其實DSS的老師薪金會跟津校有d出入,而且在福利方面會差d,例如,公積金&病假...., 有d新人仲要每月再扣起一d糧,名義上用作....,到下一年如果不做又不會俾番你,變相又扣糧,所以老師係首選津校。

另外,我都識d係出名津校(中、小學),出名DSS(中、小學)教書的朋友,情況係小學會好一些,一般都會好拼命地教,學生們有好多課餘補習及興趣活動,但分別在於DSS及私小的朋輩較好質素,家長會很合作及放上資源配合,老師話一佢地就做三,津小學生背景較難控制,老師好花神去處理不合作或跟不上學生,進度會好有影響,不能盡情奔馳。

至於中學就略有不同,大部份地區的知名的中學津校老師都會幾放時間及心機替學生操考試(會考)、補課來谷成績;相反知名的私或DSS中學基本上老師不大理學生,按本份教完d書就ok,d學生係自動波自己有方法攪掂!什麼pass paper 也不會做,但學校成績年年出狀元,原因一是學生本身在小學一般訓練足夠,主動性強,學習氣氛濃厚,二是所有家庭背景資源豐厚,有一套應試秘技。

那些有名校經驗的朋友也表示,她們是有一套方法從幼稚園開始教學生,循序漸進,讓他們養成良好學習習慣,打好基礎,孩子們是不會有壓力的,到小學時加以鞏固,配合多閱讀,基礎尚算完成第一個階段。
上到中學就要視乎孩子的個人興趣及能力,他們已經漸漸長大,會有自己的意見,未必會跟你合作,是開始靠自己的時候,因此,大部份的基礎(尤其語文)也建基於幼稚園至小學的底。

如果他們的分析是合當的,我會選擇幼稚園至小學也讀私校,如考到的話,在中學也不一定選傳統名中。

Sorry that I don't have Chi inputting now.
My situation is very passive. I am being chosen by the schools I favour, rather than I am choosing any schools !!
As u may have aware in my previous postings, I have applied only 4 DSS/Private, the best I think is, of coz the coed one, second best the Kln one!!
Anyway, either one out of these two will make me "lur rice" immediately

呢個問題我又答到d wor!
好多新思維直資, 用既係新式教學方法, 無論準備material, 上課, 秩序控制(唔鬧學生), 引導學生思考, 改券, 做評估(勁detail), 都比傳統學校勞心勞力, 仲有單元呢, 社會服務呢, 咩全人發展等等....
老師都係人, 都想要一份舒服既工作, 薪酬方面我唔肯定, 不過assume同出面一樣, 咁老師搵份輕鬆既工作都好正常吧!
另外, 都有聽過, o係新思維直資教過既老師, 由於之前既"努力", 出去搵工係好好景既wor!

One more question: why the teachers/ principles' turnover rate is so high in some new DSSs? Is that because teachers' pay/ benefits are not as good as government and aided?  I found teacher's priority ...
