Need your help - About Pun U Wah Yan primary school

Hi, Dear Parents,
My son is studying K3 and I would like to gather more info about this school. Apart from the linkage with the secondary school, are there any other merits that make you choose and stay with this school? Areas of considerations included:
1)
School environment/ location, school facilities?
2)
Care to the students/ parents?
3)
School style, discipline/ free/ well-balanced?
4)
Academic results
5)
Any extra-curricular activities?
6)
Volume of homework?
How does it compare with other “famous” boys schools on HK Islands side like St. Joseph? Also, may I know the percentage of its graduates that allocated to the Wah Yan secondary school.

BELATED answers

1) School environment/ location, school facilities?
Ans: Not State-of-the-Art but acceptable.  School campus is quite small.


2) Care to the students/ parents?
Ans: Caring and good PTA supports


3) School style, discipline/ free/ well-balanced?
Ans: Well-Balanced.


4) Academic results
Ans: Same as other famous school, don't expect the teachers can teach your boys everything.  Most of the parents will send their boys to learn other stuff after class.


5) Any extra-curricular activities?
Ans: A lot but you have a choice to attend


6) Volume of homework?
Ans: decent amount


How does it compare with other “famous” boys schools on HK Islands side like St. Joseph?
Ans: Both are equally good.  St. Joseph's is an English primary, however, as you can imagine a typical local school, most St. Joseph's teachers are "Hong-Kong-English-Accent".

Wah Yan is a Chinese primary with 2 Native English Teachers.

Also, may I know the percentage of its graduates that allocated to the Wah Yan secondary school.
Ans: 70%

可有家長同時有兒子於SJ及WY就讀，給些意見？
聞說SJ小學升不上SJC，多入鄧鏡波。朋友兒子華仁小學，升鄧鏡波，F1成績是top 3。朋友說在鄧鏡波，top那批是SJ / 華小學生，水平差不多。

WY是一間十分包容的學校，只記優點沒有缺點。讓調皮的男孩 learn from mistake 鼓勵他們做好，比懲罰的效果更長遠。所以WY仔給人的印象是較純品。P1有位『好打得』的同學仔，P3時已成了彬彬有禮的乖仔，當中學校給了很大的包容和鼓勵。

WY老師很會鼓勵學生。除一般送 sticker、蓋印仔、小禮物外，教了課文，『邀請』幾位同學逐一出來朗讀。試過有未被邀請的同學舉手請老師也『邀請』他。從阿仔描述，對被『邀請』是飄飄然的。

WY重視holistic education及德育，雖然要求學生專注某些技藝，較易摘獎爭光，WY反而鼓勵多面嘗試，你精彈琴不會畫畫，就請你試報校內畫班啦。

坊間說WY成績差了很多。唔...末代會考出一10A生，11個拔尖，是否差就見仁見智啦。但如家長要求的是成績至上，WY從不走這路線呢，就不要錯配了。

謝謝你詳盡的介紹，其實我不太著重成績，我只想仔仔可以入到一間成績中上、著重品德教育的好學校
不過華仁得咁少位，而我只有20分，都幾難入到

20分有機會，當然無 sure win.

阿仔P1時有同學移民，Class Teacher 提議同學們給他 warm blessing。那同學一回到班房，所有同學仔一湧而上，有big hug, 有 warm kiss，很溫馨。有離校就有插班生，當然均需準備充足。

阿仔k2已學拚音，到playground 碰上芧芧地的鬼仔霸尖，會說 please let me play first.  初時還以為已 well-prepared，那知 P1成績。亦好彩早點知道，早點努力追，今年P3算OK啦。只要你支持你仔仔，即使20分及插班均與WY無緣，也有很多好的學校等著你。

Old and tiny campus, nearly no facilities at all. However, this may be a +ve factor sinc school hours is short anyway so students can concentrate on thief own school works and plan own activities. Also, I would say Parents of the students are willing to spend resources, so basically te school facilities not an issue at all.

Students are relatively pure When comparing to other schools, this is what make the school lovely.

Academic wise I think also depends on the parents efforts, but as I said before, for those who "dare" to pick this school must willing to spend time to teach the kids, else the kids will become less competitive in the school due to the above mentioned issues.

If you want your son has a happy primary school life, WY is a good choice for you especially in Wan Chai District!!!!!!!!!!!!
