My son sung both choirs and he preferred the APA choir.  Reason : the teacher and teaching of the APA choir is very good.

Wow, your husband is a very devoted Dad, and even three dresses !!!

Some APA parents recommended the bridal shops in Prince Edward MTR which also make flower girl dresses.  The shops nowaday make dresses in China but still charge about $500 for a skirt, which I think is quite a high price !!!

Hi LV77,

Sorry for the late reply.  I think an accompaist could be helpful if  :-

1. the candidate feels more relaxed to have someone familiar with him in the audition; and

2. the accompanist is professional enough to assist the candidate to sing better (e.g. providing clear tempo, hints on change of mood and expression, hiding the candidate's weakness and showing off his strength).  

Otherwise, there should not be any difference in having an accompanist or not.  The teacher could be looking for qualities like a good voice and musical sense.

Hope my opinion helps.

The audition is like a competition with lots of good players but only a few prizes.  Your friend's son would know where he stands if he has been playing competitions.

其實我小朋友四歲半才開始正式學琴﹐但三歲時讀了Tom Lee Music Wonderland & JMC﹐直到四歲多開始發現她的進度比jmc快很多﹐所以就放棄了jmc﹐開始學琴﹐同時參加了香港兒童合唱團。

There are many reasons why he cannot be admitted by APA. Maybe, he can play well but cannot present the theme of music properly. That is very subjective. I think that the teacher there may look at the potential of the child and whether the child is musical rather than he can or cannot play well.
