My son is now in Year 3 of RC (Renaissance College in Ma On Shan). However, since my family got to move to HK Island, I am now looking for IS in HK Island for him.

We must move to Island side by July 08. I'm now considering both enroling him to the new school immediately (Grade 3, or Grade 2 in some IS) and for next academic year (Grade 4, or Grade 3 in some IS).

Am thinking of ESF (not sure which one should I apply for), Canadian and German Swiss. Know that CIS and HKIS are good but their tuition fees are too high for us.

Apart from the above, any parents have suggestions for me ?

Any tips for me to find the place asap ?

Thanks
Ruby

Hi Ruby,

German Swiss has a super long waiting list. Might be difficult to get in.

Hi Ruby,

I heard that KCIS (North Point) has a balanced English & Chinese curriculum.  Your son may still keep up his Chinese standard there.  The school fee would be a little less than RC.  You can ask for more details from the parents in the KCIS topic if interested.  Good luck.

Saturn.

Hi Ruby,

People come and go in all international schools.
And ISs places are not given out on a first come first served basis.
Waiting lists in all ISs are long but I think a very large portions of those applicants are children that probably do not even meet the language requirements. Even if they are at the top of the waiting list, they might not pass the interview at all. So even if you apply later than someone, it does not mean that you have less chance.
There is no harm trying. Just file the forms asap.
I personally know a couple of children who successfully got into GSIS within one year of application.

Thank you so much for all your comments.

i had already applied for QBS. But they said RCHK student does not have priority in getting in ESF schools. My son has been put into the waiting list only. But I also heard about successful cases that RCHK students being "transferred" to ESF. Any parents can give me some clues ? Those parents getting into ESF in the middle of the school term ?

Thanks
Ruby
