2007 入讀陳守仁你們怎樣預備?

I like this school very much and it is exactly the kind of school I had been looking for. How do you prepare your child for P1? And which third language will you choose for your kid, Japanese or French? Pls share.

Re: 2007 入讀陳守仁你們怎樣預備?

If I remember correctly, in the first group interview, candidates were given word cards to form sentences both in Chinese and English so they were tested on the basics of English and Chinese grammar. My daughter told me that she had to read the sentences aloud as well. In the second interview, candidates were given a picture to prepare with their parent. They were then led to another classroom for a group interview, where they needed to describe the picture. The whole interview was conducted in English so candidates needed to understand and respond well in English.

To prepare for the interviews, I think you need to lay a good foundation in both languages for your kid. Writing journals in Chinese and English every day helps lay solid language foundations. It is not easy at the beginning, but it becomes automatic after several months. Do not waste money and time going to interview classes. They won't help.

Re: 2007 入讀陳守仁你們怎樣預備?

Hi manlili,
Most likely I will choose Japanese as I am afraid French may confuse the young learners if learned along with English, and I think (just my opinion) Japanese is more relevant to my daughter's future needs as it seems closer to us than French does.
