Re: 史丹福 swimming course
My son has been joining the Standford Swimming course at Korean Int'l School since he was 3 years and 4 months old. And now, he is joining the seventh course on backstroke (2 months per course). Although I did make a number of complaints to Standford, I am satisfied with her. The staffs, at least, took my words.
Standford teaches children freestyle first, and then backstroke, and then breaststroke, and butterfly last. For young children, freestyle is comparatively difficult than breaststroke. However, after completing freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke are just pieces of cake to children.
From my observation, many children quit if they cannot complete freestyle at the fifth or sixth course. It is just one further step to the next stage.
I used to notice all the coaches and have chosen one who matches my son's character. You are allowed to change coaches if you are not happy with the current one.
According to my son, water is warm and he does not feel cold even when he get out of water. The temperature in changing room is also OK. In fact, it's not really cold during wintertime in Hong Kong now.
A little advice to mums who are struggling between swimming club and one-to-one private coach. Please think about your objective for letting your children to learn swimming. If you wish your children can swim as soon as possible, swimming club is definitely NOT your choice. For me, I just want my son to swim once a week, no matter in Summer or Winter, in order to maintain good health. I don't care if it takes a year to learn only freestyle. |
