Re: German Swiss International School

朋友的倆個孫子在GSIS就讀,現在已經去了英國讀書。

在他口中得知這所學校:
1。上下學時候,全是城内最高檔的私家車在校外接送;
2。校方要求的英文水準是城中最高的,所以不容易插班進去。
3。學生的背景絕大部分是非富則貴之輩。

我朋友其中一名孫子,12嵗已經開遊艇在海上奔馳。

這是我從閒談中得到的資料。

Re: German Swiss International School

In that case, does it mean that all of the students in GSIS are very rich and very smart?

Re: German Swiss International School

Agree with leehoma001.  In my opinion, GSIS students mustn't be very very rich but their parents must be top professionals rather than businessmen.  Apart from their high academic standards, their discipline are very good too.  It's really hard to get a place in their primary.  For those who did, they must be very smart and outstanding.

I got to know some of my friends whose children  are studying at GSIS.  I may say that they cannot be clarified as rich family, just middle-class with stable income.  But then they are willing to spend all their money on their children's education.  They thought education is the permanent asset of the children in future.  On the other hand, some of my really really rich friends just put their children in local government subsized primary school.  They said this is our benefit from the government - 9 years free education.  Why don't we take it?  You see, it just depends on the attitude of the parents towards the education of their children.  Above all, GSIS is a good school.

Re: German Swiss International School

I think we shouldn't worry about whether the students are rich, what car they drive.  I think this problem exists not only in international schools but also the famous local schools.  This is something we cannot avoid and need to be managed.

Therefore we shuoldn't be side tracked by the original question... is GSIS a good school and how does it compare to other international schools in HK?

Re: German Swiss International School

I would dispute that all GSIS's students are from "rich" families.  One of my friends, a professional, sent his kid to GSIS.  I wouldn't label him as rich.

Agree!
I think it is a good chance for us to teach our children to accept the fact that there are always people that are richer than us.
Why should we be so upset or annoyed seeing other people in nice cars?
I was with my son outside the school one day and saw one of the children (not in his class) going to school in a Ferrari. Going to school in a Ferrari is also never seen in my son's school. My son was awed and we both exclaimed "wow!". I was not upset at all. I even joked with him that I think going to school in a sports car is cool.

Regarding GSIS, it is quite the contrary that I note. I also know a couple of children who are studying in the school. They are definitely not from rich families. But their parents are educated and and have good and stable income.
