Anybody who have interviewed got the result yet? The school say they will start registration on next Monday.

I also received the acceptance from 救恩 today.
Actually , any Mama can comment this school because I don't have too much information from other sources, when I applied this school for my son, I treat this as second choice.....
But after the interview day on 30/9/2006, I was impressed from this school and felt it is a quite good school.
Do any Mama know more about this school and share with me?

Your case is exactly same as me.
As the school fee is not cheap, I want to know more about theircademic result and which Secondary Schools can their students enter...

You can obtain much information about the school from their website, www.kauyan.edu.hk. It is very informative. It shows u the secondary schools that their students go. It is a good school according to my friend, who is a teacher and her daughter is studying p.4 in Kau Yan.

我每早都見海怡有很多學生坐校車返匯基,我最初都不明白為何有這麼多學生千山萬水返這麼遠的學校,現在終於明白,原來係救恩學校結龍,上年仲係有35人升讀,終於明啦!

Anyone knows their selection criteria? The boy did not tell us anything about the interview. We have thought that it was just a tour around the school. But according to a friend, the teachers asked questions and awarded stickers to those kids answering questions. The boy did not get any sticker, but is admitted after all.

係呀,匯基響新界區,小女上年考時都收左,不過最後我都未有註冊...上年學校有派近2年學生升中結果,大部份都入左匯基,
我自己就對呢間學校一點認識都無,而且亦覺得個location太遠了,有興趣可以去初中教育睇下有關匯基既topic.

Hi Unclejt and other mums,

Apart from a tour, the teachers told the kids in my girl's group to write down their Chinese name, the date and their application number. My girl got a sticker in this part and one for lining up properly. They were also shown a film teaching them sth. That's all I know from my girl. I am still unable to guess what criteria they used based on the above information. Anyway, she is admitted also but I have not made up my mind cause I don't have enough comments from other parents.

Would other parents give us some more information and comments on this school?

Dear All,

My son also told me that not many questions have been asked except his name and school name, other than that , he just lined up with holding his profile that I have prepared for him.... I am thinking that the headmastress did read the profile because I prepared a lot in this file...

What I want to know from Kau Yan is her banding,
& the chance to admit the better secondary school espectially in Central and Western area etc.
I also heard that from some parents that her teachers are quite good , they are religious, full of love with students, and the study environment is pretty good also.....

I also want to know the no. of applicants actually.
I attended the 12:00 section on 30/09, it was very crowded, I think more than hundred people were in the playground, how about other section ? Pls share..

你們點解要揀此校呢???? 系基於佢嘅"辦學宗旨":
[size=large]本著基督的愛，提供優質全人教育，強化家長角色及功能，為親子建立一個"積極、健康及開朗"的學習社群，共同體現"愛"的教育。我們相信每個孩子都需要被"尊重"，每個孩子都可以"教育"，每個孩子都可有"成就"。

當初我們都系經由我個仔幼稚園嘅安排去參觀此校嘅開放日~ 每一個家庭都會由一個五或六年級既學生招待同帶領住參觀，從言語間都得知他們在此校六年內都讀得好開心(因為我們都系最想我地個仔都系一樣~~"讀得開心", 唔系要咩一條龍中學, 咩聯繫中學，系我駛咩揀lee間丫)；而比我地見到嘅每一位教師都系笑容滿面同好nice；另外此校嘅校長都到過我仔幼稚園做講座，因此而認識到此校；我地又搵左好多資料同埋和好多家長傾過，都話此校系直得入讀既一所好學校；再者我仔幼稚園嘅校長同此校嘅校長又系好friend(因為我們已請校長幫我個仔寫了封推薦信)，試問如果唔系好想入讀此校, 我們為何要做那麼多野呢???

上星期三果個校長通知我話唔會收我個仔, 如果話我個仔真系"完全唔悉唔明"佢地老師系30/9問佢嘅野, 我地米唯有認命囉, 但佢話系介意我地個仔...(當時真系一舊大石跌落黎, 個心好痛好痛,) 如果真系唔得, 寄番封信通知我地米得囉, 唔駛打比我地, 又話佢地唔系"特x學校", 又叫我試下到12月果時再打去搵佢, 佢話因為一定會有人退出............
但6號又收到信話只系收我仔做"首輪後備生" (個web唔系寫住9號"先出信比家長"咩)? 可謂"愛"的教育? 系我仔幼稚園個talk度就不停教人要用"愛"點點點...; 其實無他嘅, 佢地都系做生意姊, 無妳一個客, 仲有成300幾個客等住排緊隊入去...

咩叫做[size=large]相信每個孩子都"需要被尊重"呀, 但佢已經唔"尊重"我個孩子同歧視佢la!!!

咩叫做[size=large]相信每個孩子都"可以教育"呀, 但佢已經唔想"教育"我個孩子因為佢唔系完美!!!

咩叫做[size=large]為親子建立一個"積極、健康及開朗"的學習社群，共同體現""愛""的教育呢?? 其實都只系一所"掛羊頭賣狗肉"同想"賺錢"嘅商家學校!!!

最後在此, 我都系想講出我嘅全部經歷的"真相"比所有家長們知道!! 如有得罪到其他人, 本人謹此致歉!!!

I would suggest parents to visit the school and talk to the kids and other parents of Kau Yan. Making decision solely based on one or two comment is dangerous. The school is a 'real' christian school. Full of love and cheers.

噹噹,

Be relaxed, otherwise you may give extra pressure to your kids. Just think in different way, it may be the loss of the school for not admitting your son. By the way, the school web page is bit misleading. It say in the web page "http://www.kauyan.edu.hk/ps/kyps_index.html" that "匯基書院(九龍東) -結龍中學", actually it is not "one dragon", it is just 聯繫中學 which offer 30 seats for the P6 student.

I find your analysis very logical. Really, I did not heard of another school which has headmistress to inform you the interview results by phone call. Her wordings may not be perfect but I think she is at least sincere in doing so. In fact, 'dong dong', you may wish to reflect your bad feelings to the headmistress directly so that she could improve next time. I bet she can resolve the matter to your satisfaction. She is a good headmistress as I heard from my friends in education stream.

Also, I think sending out the result earlier is a good intention as they know we are all eager to know the result as early as possible.

totally agreed with ckwliu's comment. Although some parents might have complains about the school due to different reasons (it happens to every school, I believe), I think no one will doubt the teacher team's passions to teaching and to students. Mostly due to their Christianity background and Headmistress Mrs. To's leadership. And I believe that Mrs. To is good intention to call the parent about the admission result in person but might be there is misunderstanding over the phone. And I strongly agreed that the school's P.6 placement result will improve a lot from this year after using the new F.1 test as part of the new calculation scale. Actually, I know quite a number of parents who are really big supporters for this school, I always call them "fans" of Kau Yan.
