I second everything Y2KChild said. The English standard (spoken of course, the young kids are not required to attend any written test) of the kids is the most important factor. Anyone who are really interested in the ESF schools should seriously consider sending his or her kids to a real international kinder like ESF Sheung Wan and ESF Tsing Yi, Starter School or Small World. Victoria is never considered a real international kinder, not even the international session. I do not think ESF actually draw a line between local and international kinder, but ESF do give priority to the group of students who are considered not suitable to receive local education, and kids from international kinder whose English reach or is close to mother tongue level stand a better chance of being regarded as a student belonging to such a group. From my limited experience with Small World two years ago, all the kids in my girl's class who had applied to ESF were offered an interview, and all got accepted.
