If you are talking about the ones in Hang Hau, I have tried playgroups in both, and I would say 綠茵 is definately better.

From most of the word-of-mouths I've heard, 綠茵 is better. If you are a TKO resident & plan to send your kid to a local school, these two KGs should be quite alright,but some people would prefer the PLK's KG in the area.

If you want to send your kid to IS, these KGs may not be good choices. I had sent my son to 翠茵's PN (Int'l section) for a short period & I didn't find it really worth that much (school fee). My son's class teacher was a Russian & I could obviously hear that her Eng. has Russian accent. There was also not much differences between the local & int'l section. Only the int'l section put little more emphasis on Eng., the class teacher speaks Eng. to the kids in class & allows the kids to move around more freely than the local class. I found one teacher in the int'l section who is a Chinese & claimed herself is a native Eng. speaker but I didn't really think so.

These are all my personal opinion & my experience isn't an update one because it happened 4-5 years ago.

Saturn, thks for your reply.. yesterday, I had visit翠茵(hang hou), the teacher who I met quite nice, and she explained to me international section teacher is native english teacher(chinese but born or studied in uk/aust. for a long time), the campus is so clean. But I think I will go to visit other campus in TKO and also 綠茵, I 've also heard lots of bk moms said綠茵 is better, but not clean as 翠茵.
For me I just wanna put my son for nursery(international section) for a year, and then I will put him in SK abacus international school.. and later on, we also plan to send him study in international school. As we live in SK, there 's no much choice of nursery in SK(maybe there is, but I don't know which one), and the only choice what I hv is in TKO, I wanna choose fm KLN tong, but sounds so far and unsafe if I let my son take school bus, dont' u think?
So, what do u think or any comment about other good nursery among TKO and SK? and as I mentioned that I will put him study international school after he reaches at 3.

I chose 翠茵, not 綠茵, except for 翠茵's environment is better; in 綠茵, kids need to get into the KG from the stairs which I think is dangerous.

I also live in SK, so I had collected info. about KGs within the area in the past.  My son also studied in Abacus KG.

There is a KG in SK called New Song Christian KG which I found it's not very convenient but it is run by foreigners.  It is a pure int'l KG.  I just found little info for you.  It seems they accept kids only from the age 2y8m.

saturn, thks again for your reply. oh.. well.. your son studied in abacus? I wanna sent my son there after nursery. May I know if your son studied in greenville for how long? just for nursery? half day or whole day? did he learn sth. there or any improvment, esp. eng? when u applied abacus, it's difficult during interview? do u know it would help to get in abacus if studied nursery in greenville? oh... which branch your son studied? in hang hou or other branch? so your son's still studing in abacus?
about new song, yup, I know this school., and I know they don't hv nursery, so I didn't choose it, but for the kinder, Abacus sounds famous than new song, so I may choose abacus, and later on, I will put him in ClearWaterBay ESF sch.

Hi BBIX,

I concerned about teaching quality most. The teacher who is currently teaching my son in a Canadian Chinese/Korean. Her English is good. And they gave us progress report every other month; I found that the teacher really observed what my son did and gave me true reflection. (Comapre with another very famous kinder on HK Island that I have tried, they only gave me "canned products") I am also delighted about how my son has improved and how much he loves going to school.

I also agree the premises of 翠茵小宇宙 is better, and that's why I have also tried their playgroup for a month. The teacher is an indian lady. Her English is not as good as the one in 綠茵 and she got no smile. Personally I prefer someone who is nice and approachable.

My son will start nursery in Think in Oct. They offer international class for kids who plan to go to international schools. A lot of their graduates go to EFS primary schools. You may as well get to know a bit about this school.

DMJ103, thks for your reply, About think int', I hv thought about it, but the location of think in kln tong or lam tin are also far away fm my home, as I live in sai kung, if I let myson take the school, well... honestly I' m very worried, so, which branch of think u put your son into? as I wanna just let him study nursery only, then go to sai kung abacus, so, I don't know which nursery is better among saikung and TKO, I want he has a good 1st step b4 kinder. What do u think?
u just put your son for playgroup in greenville and greenfield? hv u heard about 2 nuresry(int. section) fm other parents?

There is no interview for Abacus, so you don't need to bother about this.  The KG only views your appn form.  My son is no longer in KG, he is getting into Y2 in an IS.  I don't know how old your kid is but pls take a look of the following links of the school & the date they accept appn.  I guess foreigners usually have priority on top of the appn list.  So, you'd better submit your appn as early as you can so that in case you need to be put on the waiting list you can get a higher place in the list.

My son only attended Greenville's am PN class for 2 mths, then he was accepted by another IS KG before moving on to Abacus.  Comparing Greenville & Abacus, I don't think Greenville worth to charge that much.  I found the kids in Greenville spent 3 times a day on queuing up to the toilet (~20 min. each).  How much time do you think the kids can spend on learning & playing on every school day?  Besides, Abacus has excellent indoor & outdoor environment as well as teaching philosophy & staff.  I'd rather pay $4xxx in Abacus.

If you target on sending your kid to Abacus & primary IS, I'd suggest you look for any nursery which is close & convenient to your home while waiting to get into Abacus or send your kid to Eng. playgroups a few time a week to get him/her ready for Eng. teaching environment.  It doesn't worth to spend ~$3xxx in a nursery.  You can also apply New Song as a 2nd choice in case your kid won't get the offer from Abacus.

I had never visited New Song.  The info. I had about the school was from a friend of mine who is a foreigner.  Most of the kids in New Song are foreigners & its way of teaching would more or less like Abacus.  Since many kids are foreigners, many of them could get into CWBS.  But I don't think the kids would be guaranteed an interview in New Song (esp. Chinese) for CWBS as in Abacus.

saturn, oh.. I forgot to tell u my son now is 14 mths, and I plan to send him in nursery in aug next yr, and my son is half chinese, so he may get higher priority than other 100%chinese kids.

of course I want put him in nursery which close to our home, but no choice and no nursery (good one) in SK? do u know some? and I know New song doesn't provided nursery, so..... as u said, if my son won't accept by Abacus, new song would be my 2nd choice. And do u know there is many chinese kids in Abacus? what about teachers? where they come fm? and it's much more easier get into CWBS after abacus kinder, right? what about New song? cos they're diff organization, am I right? pls correct me if I 'm wrong.

PLK means Po Leung Kuk. There is one Kindergarten (KG) run by PLK which I don't exactly know the name. It is located in Hau Tak Estate in TKO opposite to Metro City Plaza.

I know 2 mums who sent their kids to the international stream at Greenville
PN class
last year and the year before
very poor comments

one mum inadvertently told someone there that her kid will continue K1 elsewhere
since then
the school staff 忽然間當左佢地透明
對其他小朋友同家就懶係親切友善
我覺連D咁基本的門面功夫都懶得做好低能

another mum says her child gain almost nothing after attending the PN there for a whole year
she sent him to Starters' School afterwards
she said he learnt more English in 2 to 3 weeks there than speding a whole year with Greenville

蘿記, thks for your sharing... oh.. sounds very bad.. I hv heard starter is very good school, but since it's very far away fm my home, so that's why I don't choose it. oh. my god, what I can do now that maybe find other school in kln tong or good school in tko if they hv, unfortunately, I never hear any good int. school in tko, what about u? and any comment for other school, international section? thks!!

I am sorry but I don't know much about good international kinders in TKO or Sai Kung
I only know EFS Abacus but it accepts kids according to how early you submit your application

are you a full time mum
If you take your child to English playgroups quite frequently it may beat attending a PN with low standard
