When will a student need to take Grade 8 Music of Theory ?

Does " Grade 8 Music of Theory " required beforehand for taking any exam e.g. DipABRSM ?

Only if they want to take the degree of music in Univeristy. They have no need to take grade 8 theory for performance diploma.
