九龍塘宣道小學 -- 樂器問題

Hi all 宣道小學家長,

I want to let my son learn a musical instrument for future Secondary purpose. But someone told me that the suitable age to learn wood musical instrument is 8.

I wonder why your school can allocate the new P.1 student to learn different instruments when they are just 6 or 7???

For a 7 years old boy, which type of wood instrument is better to learn or will be more competitive when they 爭 good secondary school.

Please give me some opinion. Thanks a lot.

我囡囡今年讀小一, 學長笛, 但她年紀小, 仲未可以掌握得好, 但長笛競爭非常大, 除非小朋友好出色, 否則好難入到學校管弦樂團. 但事實上, 學管樂比學弦樂好, 競爭冇咁大, 拉琴既人太多了, 最好學d冷門樂器, 如:次中音號, 圓號, 長號,巴松管等, 通常大件既樂器會少人學, 我相信如果小朋友在管樂上有出色既表現, 上中學都會有好處.

我識得很多宣小家長，小兒如大抽獎沒箸落，也會揀宣小。你的兒子是否將會入宣小？宣小的音樂成績肯定全港No.1,全因從小訓練,據聞大拔的樂團有七成都是宣小升上，如比我揀,我會讓小兒學tuba,因夠泠門又不是人人夠氣吹,細細件樂器而少人學會揀oboe. 我相信小一學管樂不是問題,只是讓他幔慢學,到小二才發力。

宣小老師會根據小孩的體型, 嘴型, 手指等先天條件為學生選擇適合的樂器.

I cannot give you the figure since most of the students learn instrument playing and DBS does not tell you the reason. You can find APS boys in every instrument group in DBS orchestra (It may be exaggerated!).

My friend told me that as far as she knew one learned violin one learned flute were admitted by DBS and they knew the result before 13/4/06. Am I right?

I want know if this school has a lot of homework. How many homework do the students usually have everyday? How's the English standard? 除了English, 是否所有課本都係中文? English lesson用中文教or 英文?

I heard there are about ten - violin, viola, flute, bass....

I am delighted that my daughter is luckily be recruited to the junior winds group this month. She is in Primary 3 now. My daughter had just entered to this school this year, I had a great impression that music in this school achieved an advanced development. Parents of course contributed a good support of that.

只是間中有。

小一是全日制...那小朋友便很早便睡了嗎?

學琴不是mandatory。學琴會對他學其它樂器有幫助，但不會直接幫到音樂科成績。

還是, 那時才再重新學其他樂器會好一點呢?

如果真的想培養音樂的興趣，最好現在就讓他學琴。如果只是想讓他學樂器玩玩或用作升學，我覺得最重要是選到或遇到好的樂器導師，選甚麼樂器反而是其次。每樣樂器都有出色的導師。
