Re: Ready to Learn (RTL) 學英文
sabrinama,
Great to hear you are putting effort to your kid's education. I would like to "share" the experience but not advertising on behalf of any teaching center.
If you just take English as an example in his overall education, he has 2 lessons per week for the native speaker in kindergarten. He has activity work sheet, English writing, English exercise book from school and using "Letterland" phonics at school. I am pleased with his level of education. I am not pushing him out of the ordinary student but at least he will not behind the same level of student.
The breaking point was K2 after we have read the story books for him, he could be able to read story book on his own and build up his vocabulary.
From K3 onwards, if possible, I watch documentary series with him, like "Animal extreme", drama series, and some cartoons Barney, Thomas, Tweenies, Postman Pat...
Most of the time when we are alone, I have English conversation with him and encourage him to practice English, such as using English to communicate with maid, helping tourist, take him to my office to talk to expatriates....
Every tiny matter that will help and will not solely rely on the weekend English lesson. Reason for me to place him in the center was I always stay late for work and the phonics they structure was organized. I have site visit to the center, took comment from friend and also talked to the center in-charge and his teacher.
It’s a long road for us to nurture our kid and not just English, but an overall academic, moral, courtesy, empathy education in it.
Hope you will not too bored for that :)
