囡囡目前在培正幼稚園就讀,
不知有沒有培正小學的家長可以告知:

1. 小學全日制的上下學時間是幾點到幾點?
2. 功課量大不大
3. 每天都有英文課嗎? 一節或兩節呢?
英文phonics在小一會重教嗎? 英文教學方法如何?
4. 除了學費外, 還要交其他雜費嗎?

1. 9:00-3:30
2. 我覺得多,因為返全日的關係,回家已5點,不夠時間做.
3. 有.有時一堂,有時兩堂,小一會從頭開始教phonic,教學方法點就見人見智.
4. 還有書薄費,沒有雜費.

功課量- I think they have less homework this year. Usually my son can finish within an hour. Since he would finish some in school and he gets only 2/3 pieces to do at home this two months. Now he gets more time in reading story books.

每天都有英文課嗎- Yes. The session of Eng lession is same as the Chinese lession. They don't have text books. Only story books plus worksheets. Like Chinese, they would test those they had learnt. But I think it is not simple at all.

so, which form is your son studying now? I heard that reasonable homework is offered during P.1-2, but it rises sharply when one goes up to P.3, is it true?
and, are there a lot of extra-curricular activities arranged after school hour? does parents' participation involves much?

其實我想培正基本上是個很好的學校,目前我女兒在幼稚園的中文學得很有系統, 他們的英文phonics也是不錯的入門, 但是我個人始終較擔心的是培正小學的英文程度及功課量.

有些"聽說", 不知小學部家長們可否提供一些真實資料:

"聽說"一個街坊的孩子去年離開培正,"聽說"是功課量太多了....他好像是四五年級了...
又, "有人說"到了四年級, 會淘汰掉兩班, 又"有人說"六年級"有兩班學生無法升上中學...

關於功課量, 如果一二年級較輕鬆, 三年級以上突然加重, 學生的適應力如何呢?

又, "聽說"培正小學的學生大多都在外面補英文, 因為校內英文教得程度稍低...又, phonics在小學課堂上重教嗎? 還是課後活動課程...仍是重複類似的教材嗎?

不好意思, 這麼多問題..這麼多"聽說"..其實培正有一點真的可以改進的就是他們的網站, 什麼課程資料都找不到, 透明度稍低, 道聽塗說的結果, 就是不知道什麼才是真的...

I think you could consult the comment for those  parent of P5 or P6 students for more information.  And hope other PC parents could provide more information as I want to know more.

The information I got:
到了四年級, 會淘汰掉兩班 - not true. I was told by the principle many times in the parent meeting.
Size of the class in P2 is 35/class (9 class) and will increase to P3 40/class (8 class).  But this year PC only got 8 class of P1.  Not sure if they will reduce the no. of class in P3 or not.

六年級"有兩班學生無法升上中學 - PC primary student is not 100% promoting to her secondary school.  Last year, the top 100 students were guaranteed to promote to Secondary school.  The 101st to 150th will have 30 seats under random drawing.  Anyway the system is going to be changed as school now gots more freedom to select their own secondary students.

培正小學的學生大多都在外面補英文- It is popular but not only happens in PC.  Their English standard is on average.  I find it a bit more difficult this term comparing with the past. For your information, most PC parent are very concern about the Eng standard of their child. I couldn't see the students from SC or Kenville got advantage in the English subject in P1 in my son's class.

一二年級較輕鬆, 三年級以上突然加重, 學生的適應力如何呢? - It is normal for most of the primary schools.  According to the development of the child, it is not good to have too much homework during the early primary stage.  But they could adapt very well after P3 as they had built up the ability to learn.

透明度稍低 - very agreed.  You could ask the parents as most of them are very helpful when you are asking in person.  But not many of them like to express their view here.

Would you please advise how many PC primary student can promote to their secondary school. For example: 35人 x 8 class = 280 students in primary. Secondary got 240 seats.

Many thanks
