I do not friends that their children are studying at St. Mary's, so I can compare for you.
Just for your reference. Below are the topics they have in their 1st English Assessment (in October 2005):
- a, an, the
- is, am, are
- has, have
- simple past tense
- punctuation mark
- read the passage and answer the question
- picture & statement matching
- opposites
- transportation (e.g. by bus, by taxi, by plane, etc)
- rewrite to form a sentence
- what, who, when, where, how
- complete the dialogue - they give you a question and you have to write down an answer
(e.g. Yes, there is. or No, there isn't, etc)
- rewrite sentence following the example
