I heard from others that DGS considers the background of the kid's parents rather than the performance of the kid.

What do you mean by "background"? Will they give higher preference to those whose mother was DGS old girls?

I mean educational background and occupation of the parents. My nephew is a smart girl. She studied in St. Catherine's from K1-K3. She can speak quite good English. She was successful in applying Good Hope, St. Francis, and some other famous private primary school except DGS. Her mother said that her daughter performed well during the interview but because they are not well-educated people, so her daughter failed.
