May be I can share with you.  
I am not sure whether Marymount purposely reserves some places for P2 students.  Some people said there are students left (study abroad) every year, but actually there are really some places from P2 to P4.  This year my daughter promotes to P2 and I wrote letters to the 3 schools (Marymount, St Paul Catholic and St. Francis) in June.  The 3 schools offered interview/exam to my daughter.  I remembered when I and my daughter arrived Marymount to sit for the exam, there were many many children in the hall and I just wondered whether that was the orientation for P1 students.  Those children applied for places from P2 to P4, just for P2 applicants, I think there were around 50.  Applicants will do a paper including Chin, Eng and Eng Maths, after that, each applicant has to read a paragraph in English in front of a teacher.  The school will send you letter if the child is succeed.
