我有幾個數學系畢業嘅朋友除了教書有銀行做精算師有做保險公司行政亦有做市場研究

My math friends work or worked, applying their professional math skills, in Amazon, ASTRI, Census & Stat Department, HK Observatory, LinkedIn, Nvidia, as well as in the higher education sector (professors in universities), the financial sector (credit analysts and quants in banks, acturaries in insurance companies), and the industry (biostatisticians in pharmaceutical companies).

我自己就因為我識主修數學嘅人,1st hon 嘅做老師（包括教授），2nd upper 嘅去二線銀行做 cobol programmer, 2nd lower 嘅做文職（有個做 shipping,有個係秘書，有個係 merchandiser)。
但我嘅資料係廿幾年前，所以上嚟問。
我女而家都有 fd 讀數學或者 Math and Econ, 都係打算做老師。佢哋係同我女講，真係冇轉走去讀 data science 嘅同學一係就好 Kai 嘅科學星人，火星文係佢哋母語，一係就想教書，再唔係就根本轉唔走。

識嚟識極嗰幾個，唔係 engine 佬就 computer 佬

佢完全唔識 user 嗰邊嘅人，基本上都係唔知情況

係呀，CFA要就大部份數底唔好嘅考生，因為個考試集中在金融方面。所以FRM嘅數都深過CFA。

他兒子讀Qfin，裏面嘅數學比CFA深番N倍，可以做多啲Quan嘅工作。

我的回應不代表另一帖beastbristo 的想法及做法，只係有點感觸。

樓主嘅題目係要再講清楚啲係只講學士？抑或再進階上碩士、博士？在出路上會有幾明顯嘅差異。

最近跟兒子一齊旅遊，在火車上無所不談，他特別講咗一些反思。他一向數學很好，也讀完QFin，考完牌，工作幾年之後，反而覺得以前數學底子不夠紥實。

因為他在大學跟主修數學的同學一齊上，他們會傾向多些在金融上的應用，主修數學同學較大路及較少偏向那一門應用。兒子解釋就是general solution，而在金融上應用是specific solutions。

懂得specific solutions，在職場上俾人感覺到快上手，快靚正，客戶滿意，老板滿意，自己有運行。但如果對家客戶有數學高手，就會問番點解咁樣推算，最基本是什麼mathematical models，或者why A and not B, C….

到拆得多些炸彈，他才明白點解現在老細，（係數學及電腦博士，畢業後才加入金融，）在入職前介紹三本書俾佢睇，而且時不時互相交流。

因為產品日新月異，有不同法規改變，應用不同，現有finance model 未必可以直接應用，咁就可能要去返最原始的mathematical model再推算過。如果這步通咗，對解決新問題係非常有利。

街市買餸婆仔數肯定叻過不少大學生，如果在不同應用係有需要不同程度數學水平。

如果我兒子想繼續在數學進階，我開心都來不及，他知道還原基本步，才可以上另一個臺階。繼續搵真銀，也有我的祝福。
