St paul co-ed (MAC. RD)

My son applied st. paul co-ed P4 this yr but was not accepted. I wanna help my son apply again next year to P5 but my friend told me not to waste energy as those school will not now very hesitate to accept P5 and P6 students as their results have to sen to Edu. Dept. Can anybody tell me if this is true? Any success case you hear about school transfer to this school at P5 or above?

Absoutely agreed with your friend's advice
I doubt why don't you apply for son in earlier stage like P.1 & P.2 if you find st. paul co-ed being your dream school.
furthermore you mention that your kid has tried to apply P4 but failed in the end, it implies that his standard has at least up to this moment not met the standard as required by it. are you confident that he can really catch up and improve himself enough just within a few months to hit the target.
To my knowledge, one of my relative's daught now studying at St paul co-ed (MAC. RD), there is extreme little little chance of transfer after P5.

I saw this topic & am very interested to know a bit more. My daughter is going to P1 this Sept. We applied St Paul Co-ed (Mac Rd) for her & got waiting list. We plan to apply P2 for her again. Do you think there is any chance?

Please advise.

If there is vacancy (some students dropped out after P.1), they will call those in the waiting list and tell them they can apply for P.2 in writing.

My daughter was in the waiting list last year but wasn't accepted and they called me in June this year telling me I can apply for P.2 again. Eventually I didn't apply as I was satisfied with her current school.

My daughter is now studying at MCS.

Sorry, I don't know anything about St. Peter's so I cannot comment on it.

What is MCS? Maryknoll Convent? If your daughter is on wait list, why don't the school take your daughter instead of ask you apply again? Do you think all those not accepted are on wait list? Any parents have kids on wait list are finally accepted by St. Paul Co-ed? Pls tell us if anybody know.

Yes, MCS is Maryknoll Convent School.

Let me clarify a bit more. My daughter applied for P1 last year and was put on the wait list and was not accepted. After one year, I received a call from St. Paul's Co-ed telling me there is vacancy in P2 and I can apply for P2. They told me that I can send an application letter along with my daughter's academic results in P1. So, I suppose there will be another interview or even some written tests if I did apply for it.

About the wait list, from what I know, every year there will be over one thousand applications for P1. After a first round interview, 100 applicants will be selected for a second round interview. Then, after the second round interview, 56 applicants will be accepted and the other 44 will be put on the wait list.

Are the in-take statistics similar for the Kennedy Road St Paul's? What's the real difference between the 2? Any recommendation which one to go for?

Me too want to know also, what are the numbers accepted by Kennedy Rd and Mac. Rd, apart from P1, how many will each school accept P2 to P6? Any idea from existing St. Paul Co-ed's parents or school friends?

Both schools will each accept 56 students for P.1 and because the number of students in P.2 is also 56 so there is very slim chance to have vacancy unless there is drop-out from exisitng students.

However in P3 and P4, they will expand the number to over 70 so it's probably the best timing to enroll.

The application forms and submission deadline for both schools will be the same but you can only apply one.

Interviews will be arranged by the two schools individually and the formats were also different.

how old is your child? the 2 campus will combine into one in 2008. the school will move to a new location.

It's so surprising to learn that only 56 pupils in P1 of the school !! You mean their P1 only has 56 places ??

Or they reserve some places ? But I know St Paul Co-ed is now a direct subsidized school so they should enroll all students by themselves, right?

St.Paul Co-ed 小學有兩間，一間係麥當奴道，一間係堅尼地道，每間小學都係一級得兩班，而每班28人，所以一年只係有56個一年班新生位。(你只可以apply其中一間小學而唔可以兩間都apply。

so it really depends on the interview for the 56 seats in each campus?

do you know the success rate of kindy in each school?

i know breamar hill has high chance to go to 麥當奴道?! what about victoria?

Chance of getting in the school isn't that slim:

about 1:15 depending on the number of applications.
