有冇過來人分享下，如果在香港讀完小六就去英國讀Year 7, 是否GSE or A Level 成績是否比在香港讀完中二去輸蝕？ 10個9個都建議的英國讀Year 9,係咪早去就冇咩好處？英國Year 7-9 的 science and maths是否跟香港F. 1-3 的syllabus 一樣？

I went to UK just after 小五。A long time ago. Back then the mathematics curriculum is lower than HK. Now it is better as the new curriculum commenced 3 years ago is trying to model the south east asia, some might say China, but need verifying.
Anyway I teach the England and Wales maths curriculum. It has got a lot more wordy, so the level of English needs to be adequate to interpret the questions correctly. Even the native English speakers struggle with the understanding. Therefore, I believe there is plenty to challenge your child if he comes here in Year 7.

My parents sent me to UK early because they believe the style of learning was better than HK. Here, I can always ask the teachers why I am learning this and when will I use what I learn. I was included and felt inspired by the UK teachers who often hold a PhD degree in their specialist subjects. I can really say the UK school heavily influenced my future which led me completing a PhD in engineering.

Also, by the time I went to University I had been in UK 7 years, I became more appreciating the British way of life. I love sailing and completing in the Three Peaks challenge. Things that HK does not offer, and the air is great. People who comes at Year 9 tends not to eat school dinner and they buy takeaways each night, meaning lots of lovely cooked food is wasted. Year 9s also don't seem to mix with foreign students. The younger the person start in the UK, the better he or she mixed with everyone.

In short, I am for going to UK early, but it does depend on the child as well whether he or she wants to go in the first place. He or she should get to choose which of the shortlisted schools to go to.

路過！本地－般教得快及深，去任何地方成績也不差／算好好，但gce/al 就難有太大的好處因改咗考試制度，除非本身對數／理有興趣。。。正如朋友孩子中學冇修理科，去到英國ＡＬ報理科，佢因本地入不到理才去英，最後成績有Ｂ或以上

我小朋友完成香港小五便過英國讀Year 7 .
數學科的確比香港淺， science已經分了3科 Phy ChemBio ,Geography和 History 對我女來說是初初接觸，頭一年都有一點吃力，但是正常的，但頭一年是適應年都很重要，很易融入本土英國同學，冇乜排斥問題， Long weekend 又會被本土同學邀請到她家住和玩，現在Year 9 , 她都很開心，和本土同學相處得好好。至於GCSE /AL 我冇諗咁多，本身都是突然決定，如果她照在港讀小六升中學，按她成績保守計都會升到Band one 尾英中。但當時政治氣氛環境，希望小朋友早走早著，也是想孩子讀書讀得開心D , 早點去當地享受學校生活。

Thank you so much for your sharing. Good to hear that your daughter enjoy school life in UK. I believed that your kid is born before Sept that's why he/she can enter Year 7 directly, am I correct? You also live in UK with your kid or he/she study in boarding school?

我女兒是年頭出生，入學前是滿11歲所以入讀 Year 7 , 她是 full boarding , 每逢 Half term and term end 都回港，我沒親戚在當地，所以都是用監護人公司。

我是在2016年 3月開始搜集資料。去了4-5間海外升學Agent 了解，也有帶阿女到Agent 聽講座。當時是想 2017年9月入學。5月底時約了朋友出來見面，請教他英國升學的事，因他女兒都是Year 7入讀，他女兒已Lower 6 , 他們一家三口都話我女都已經11歲，為何讀埋小六先去讀，他們說 11歲是入讀Year 7最佳年齡，就是這原因，我們是6月的第一天聯絡Agent問我所選的幾間學校同年9月會否收生，可能Year 7位多，問5間學校 5間都接受Y7 報名，我們選了3間學校報名和考入學試(豁免ukiset) 3間都收了阿女。
所以在短短3個月內準備到英國升學，現在回想當時都幾急幾趕，但一切都順利，她用了兩星期適應了學校生活。

她們頭半年有沒有HOMESICK 情況出現?

我也想小朋友YEAR 7過去, 但佢地話唔想同媽媽分開

我女兒沒有父母伴讀。2星期內已適應了。其實頭幾日沒有喊，學校都是安排活動玩的。到正式上堂，電腦科，地理科唔知講乜，因唔識而哭了好幾日，數學科做功課太快被老師話又喊，學校Sixth form姐姐有去睇她，開解她。

我女兒是自己肯出國讀書，在計劃出國讀書時，我有帶她到升學中心舉辦講座讓她了解，可能她小學實在太多功課，個個星期都默書小測，所以她非常想出去讀書。

我小朋友係超大b，完成小五已經11歲，但又想完成小六先出國(即12歲)。唔知12歲英國會收小朋友請year 7 嗎？
另外，樓主你小朋友讀邊間學校呀？

我女兒都係11歲去讀yr7！個女舊年9月去讀，佢好開心好適應！我自己認為越細去適應越快！當然禁細，我倆公婆送佢去既時候都好擔心！但這只係大人既憂慮！只要小朋友想去，佢哋好快就會適應到！唔需要太多憂慮！但當然我明白父母既心情！總會為佢地想好多！但如果你問我，我個人就覺得係好值得！佢英國讀得好開心！好享受讀書既生活！

你好，我們也決定比阿囝20年9月讀y7,小朋友完成小六課程！
Agent話可以讀year 7or year 8,今個暑假攞埋小四及小五成積表去揾學校！

請問你囡囡是否完成小六才去英國？
我們仍然考慮應該讀year 7 or year8
因為小朋友年中出世，明年9月已經12歲，但怕year8跟不上（和同學及學術），小朋友現在讀英小，已學science,但未分phy,chem,bio

20年9月，小女完成小六也是去英國升讀year7，送女兒到英國無非希望佢享受讀書樂趣，若過那邊讀Y8追不上，便本末倒置了。所以也是先由Y7開始

我小孩今年是小六,因是1月出生,所以到9月時是12

歲

8個,學校要他上Y8

因為英國是按年齡收新,

11歲是Y7

12歲是Y8

跳一年,我都好擔心
