Are there any St Stephen's College Prep School parents out there? I heard it's a very happy school with only 30-45 mins of homework each day. What is its standard like?

貴族學校.但水準十分之高.讀到小六一定要在學校住宿.

麻麻地, 唔林住出去讀boarding中學 , 唔好讀呢間!

唔好以為讀呢間小學上中學, 跟手入李寶春讀pre-u 會優先, 因佢d成織又未好到可同男女拔,german-swiss, cis d 學生爭架 !

佢地好多中途出各國外讀架, 升中唔出出面讀就難入主流名校架 !

但兩睇, 讀呢間就真正好開心架 !

我都識人佢個仔係間村校讀咗幾年,跟住轉去都收.
因為係私校,又唔出名,又要寄宿,真係好懷疑佢地既收生情況.

In fairness, the school ground & buildings are very pretty (with a hugh football pitch, buildings facing the sea, loads of outdoor areas and school premises undergoing renovation at present) and it is an old 'establishment' (the school is over 100 years old), but with the ever declining birth rate, the remoteness of the location and its high school fees, it is probably pretty easy to get in at all levels.

On one hand, I would like my child to be happy and to enjoy his school life, on the other hand I am mindful that if the standard is too low/easy, he may not be competitive enough in the long run.....very difficult to strike a balance indeed!

i'm graduated from St. Stephen's College in 198x.
We loved the school environment for sure,
and it's got a good morale, good opportunity for exposure.

We do have classmate gets into, say,
HKU medical school ...
i would say the academic result would very much depends on individual / gang of students' inertia.
Teachers there WERE not pushy but some good teachers and a good library WERE there.
The current principle is a very very nice person -
she was our teacher in 198x.
They taught us much much more than books.

i heard that the primary section was closed ?
My schoolmate from there were good in average.
Most of them are confident, generous, all-round,
good in English ....
Yes, many of them studied abroad since 13 - 16 yrs old. It WAS the trend.

Not sure if my (old) opinion helps.
Yet the school spirit seems remains.

翁靜晶當年曾入讀, 係經濟日報專欄有提及, 佢對當年學校教職員的評價及佢所得的待遇就非常負面 !

My friend's son studied at 高主教 at P.1 but switched to St. Stephens for P.2 last yr. Her comments of St. Stephen's is good & she said St. Stephens allows her son to have more comprehensive developments other than only focusing on "academic" at 高主教. At least, the facility is great in terms of a large swimming pool at school. Her son is very happy there and whe will let her youngest son to go to St. Stephens as well coming yr.

The standard of the primary school is not too low. Especially the language environment with all westerners to teach English and Putonghua to teach Chinese. They also have a very strong atmosphere for reading and learning actively. And, it is not "so easy" to get a place for Primary One - a lot of candidates to compete with. I also know a no. of my friends with their kids rejected by the school.

However, the problem I consider very important is its remoteness, the risk of the winding road to school and the standard of its secondary school. My sister has a friend who is now a teacher in the secondary section. He discloses that it's true that the team spirit of the school is high, the students love the school and the school facilities are very good. But, the learning atmosphere is very low too which contributes to the poor open examination results of the secondary school students.
