You will start this "game" in K3. When your child go to school in September in K3, they will give you about P1 Admission information. At this stage, it is called "Discretionary Place". You can only submit 1 application and choose ONLY 1 SCHOOL but without limitation in school nets. For example, you live in New Territories, you can send your application to Kowloon Tong. The result will be known in November same year.
If your child is not accepted by the school at this stage, you will continue another round called "Central Allocation" in January next year. This time the form will have 2 parts - Part A and Part B.
Part A - choose 3 schools WITHOUT limitation in school net.
Part B - there are 30 blanks for you to write down the schools you choose but SHOULD BE IN THE SAME NET of your residence.
The result will be known in June.
There is no issue that your child is studying in DSS.
Anyway, you will apply to other private schools and DSS when your child in K2.
Please note that once your child is accepted by DSS, the school will ask you to sign an "Undertaking" to confirm the seat at DSS and cancel the seat in the "Lucky Draw".
