My son just turned 3 years old 2 days ago. Of course he can't swim yet but he has no fear of the water and knows how to hold his breath underwater. Yet, he is not reckless at all. He is totally aware of the risk that he might encounter in the water. He enjoyed very much his Aqua-tots classes. He has now just advanced to the next level in YMCA-the Aqua-nauts which is not a 親子班. Aqua-tots is only for those under 3 years old. Their swimming classes are on a term basis. They have just started the term and the next enrolment is around June/July. If you are really interested, you've got to be fast because their swimming classes are very popular and are always full.

Since your son is 3, I don't think he can join the Aqua-tots親子班. You may consider the Aqua-naut for 3-5 years old. There is another discussion on this with comments given by more experienced moms. My son has attended one lesson only and perhaps it's too early for me to make any fair comment.
