The statement "用考其他試、用低級聯賽的成績來報本港大學(日元當港紙使)" is unfounded.
Simply comparing the 4 core subjects of DSE with, say, GCE A level, DSE English and Maths are below par and LS is not a rigorous subject. The admission requirements of HKU Medi/Law are higher than the equivalence of Oxbridge. I have heard professors of HKU Law complaining the English standard of their DSE students.
The small percentage of students getting 5** does not mean that these students are better than their counterparts getting top scores in other exams. It may be true only for those separate DSE science subjects but further generalisation has no basis.
