Re: 請問香港區邊度有大人學既 "jolly phonics" course 上 ?
Hi ChunMaMa,
Yes, YMCA (TST Headquarters) is teaching Jolly Phonics. My daughter joined Phonics I in this semester. Actually, I read the comments from Baby Kingdom that YMCA is good so I go for a try. My daughter is very shy but turn out she loves it very very much. There's songs, actions, writing in every lesson so I think the process is pretty appropriate for her. In my class, all the 12 kids will proceed to Phonics II commencing in April.
One parent is allowed to attend with child, that is exactlly what I need. I never learnt Jolly Phonics (nor any phonetic system) so I need to master it then I can trace the procedure of my daughter. I like this system. This is the basic info I know for your reference:
1) max. 12 pairs in a class
2) 10 x 1 hr session
3) for age 4-6 (Phonics I)
4) Altogether 4 levels to complete (1 year)
5) Course fee: HK$1,280 for non-member
6) New course commence in April soon
7) 2 native English teachers per class (1 main, 1 assistant)
8) Only Phonics I & II allow parents to attend, Phonics III and IV will be child alone. However, I know many parents has voiced out the request to open all levels for parents to sit in too.
My daughter shows keen attempt to prounce words, though there's much to learn in the Jolly Phonics system tree.
In a word, worth a try! So far, my daughter is not willing to miss any lesson!
