Dear faith,
As we are all now aware the shortcomings of IQ test ( which just give you the scores in logical reasoning, arithematic and use of language) being far from comprehensive to give a full picture of the intelligence profile of a kid.
There came out in USA 2 years ago a new MQ ( multiple intelligent IQ) test which evaluate the 7 aspects of Howard Gardner's multiple intelligence, and this new test is believed to evaluate a kid's intelligence profile to a much more detailed and comprehensive extent.
The traditional benchmark of IQ score > or = to 130 means 資優兒童 would be outdated soon and would need major adjustment then , since there are at least 8 recognised intelligences of humans and the notion of 資優兒童 would need to be re-defined.
For such reason, we would now see so many contradictory cases like Long Long ( talented in music ) but weak in other areas; if we consider these cases under the scope of MQ , then we can explain the phenomenon in a more logical and reasonable way.
