My kid is now in P.3. Honestly, I think my kid's Chinese composition is pretty good. He writes clearly and think clearly. However, I am really astonished my kid only got a pass in almost all his essays. I copied the essays and let my colleagues who are lawyers from China and Taiwan. They both said my kid is not bad and some of his sentences and structures are even better than those marked wrong by the teacher. I really wonder what the marking system the teacher followed. Maybe the teacher just follows her 'rule book'.
So as parents, we must have confidence on our kids. Sometimes, the teachers are very subjective. Even worse, exam on Chinese composition will not be able to take home for parents to check. We are totally in dark...
exactly. I let my son do the Chinese composition himself. but most of his classmates their parents taught them. So strange, at my time, we could only do Chinese composition at school, so teacher really knew if you could manage or not. but now, teacher allow kids to take the homework home. However, I still prefer my kid hold the responsibility because it's he taking the composition exam at school, not me. If he doesn't get used to do it himself, how can he do it at exam?
on top of this topic, I found out that in the English exam, there was also Eng composition (of course short essay) - but teacher never said we will have the Eng composition this year (at P.3). It's all of a sudden...We, as parents, do not know Eng composition is within the exam scope for this year!!!
