Hard to say, despite the syllabus coverages of DSE are less than A-level on those science subjects.
In fact, we got A1/A2/A3 in old days' HK A-level.
I found those got A1 at A level's phy/chem/bio did already study a lot of the year 1 materials in their A-level. So they could be so easy and relax to get top results on some courses in year 1...
As the assessments were made after the DSE exam, it seems UCAS did review the papers of the A** students before their judge and it should be a fair review.
But this result may force the top students to study beyond the syllabus to get A**... a real pressure for them to finish 4 years F4,5,6,7 A-level materials of in the 3 years S4,5,6!!!
