我個仔讀英普班，之前從無學個普通話，屋企無人講普通話。頭一個月放學回家不開心，佢話老師話佢好衰（不過我估係好帥）。數月後講得似摸似樣，無問題的。ps不過見班中有好幾位不適應要求轉返中英班。

我仔返英粵,屋企只講粵語,佢第一日返學,英文老師講story佢冇乜反應,可能聽唔明,但之前問過校長駛唔駛o係屋企同佢講多d英文,佢話小朋友好快適應,唔駛o係屋企講,希望佢快d適應到,聽得明la~

We try to use a more "systematic" approach, i.e. daddy is responsible for one language, I am responsible for another language. We only speak to our kid using the "assigned language". Parent not to mix language is very crucial to kids' language learning.

My son will be in Eng/PTH class. We mostly use English and Cantonese at home. Both me and daddy will speak the two languages to him. If use English, then the medium will be used for the whole topic. My son is 2.5 yr old now and we response to him more than we dictate what language to be used - that means if he started with Eng, we response then carry on the conversation in Eng, and same case in Cantonese. When we asked him in Eng, he will answer in Eng and the same case in Cantonese.
And my maid and my son will communicate in Indonesian.
Researches and findings already proved that if a kid has good exposure to different languages when young he/she certainly can handle multiple languages, not to mention two only. I put my son in PTH, French and Spanish playgroup since he was 15M, he enjoyed a lot and never get confused. The key is you have to use the right approach.
Personally I like Eng/PTH class more.
