有好多嘢只有名校有 - what does Wah Yan have exclusively that other schools don't have?
I didn't choose a DSS school just because it makes the curriculum more difficult. When I consider which school to choose, I look at the school as a whole, including discipline, public exam results, teachers' quality, principal's mission and enthusiasm, etc.
華仁始終係不爭既名校 - in terms of fame, yes. Old boys may choose it because in those days, it was really good and, even for me, I still have a sense of belonging to it. However, I need to look at some objective facts in front of my own eyes and cannot let fame and my personal feelings to the school affect my decision. (Remember Satchi used to be a prestigious brand too?)
Of course, another factor we considered is the compatibility of the school's culture with my son's personality, and whether I want my son to develop qualities prevailing in the school. It is more personal to my son and has not much to do with the school's quality itself.
Sometimes we need to be careful when we hear comments from alumnis of a school saying how much they like the school. Have they been in touch with the school recently? Do they know how the school has progressed since their graduation? For me, the answers to these questions are "NO", but I have a close relative who is studying there and I obtained a lot of "inside" information from him.
To be honest, it was a painful decision for me to give up a place in WY; however, since it can help someone to join this famous school and ultimately he was accepted by some good schools, my negative feelings diminished.原帖由 overview 於 11-6-14 16:18 發表
