KCIS High percentage P.6 student will leave - 國際學校

Do any KCIS P.6 parents know why so many students will not stay for the Year7? This coming new term in my boy’s class almost half of the children will leave and quite a lot will go to South Island school. My boy’s two good friends in the class will leave as well and now he has request to go with them. Is there any parent from KCIS who will leave this school year? Can you tell me why you do not feel to stay? I am very worried that most of the bright children are going, and what will happen to the standard of the Year 7 class for the coming school year. I thought I had found a through train school at KCIS and that I would not have any worrying but now......

I am a working mum, and I moved my son from another school to KCIS three years ago. I don't know that many parents at the school. My son says his friends' parents do not think the school is as good as South Island. If my son hadn't told me about this, I would not have known that so many children were leaving school.

Very honest I like the school otherwise I won't moved my son three years ago but so many children are leaving it really makes me worried.
I have not decided yet what I will do.I will be happy to hear any P.6 parents if they are leaving and why?

Year 6 三班之中有兩班差不多全部學生都會留低升Year 7，好多同學係由幼稚園讀到 Year 6，家長及小朋友均很滿意學校，包括紀律、老師質素等，head teacher 很有愛心但亦很進取，對學術要求很高。

多學生走嗰班係因為部份外籍家長覺得中文讀到 Year 6 已經好夠啦，加上 Year 7 開始 KCIS 既中文會越來越難，所以轉去 South Island，之後亦唔會讀中文改修法文；另外，亦有混血家長 (1/2 中國人) 因為不滿多次要求學校比佢小朋友(1/4中國人) 轉讀較難既中文班，但學校因應佢&佢小朋友既中文程度而婉拒，所以一怒之下轉校。

沒想到事情比我想像中複雜, 我知我個仔果班走啲都係中國人，隔離班有两個外國同學會起 2012年先走。(我果仔話 Harrow 巳經收咗佢哋 ) 。 Anyway 多謝你的意見和分享。

Well...I don't know where did you get this information from. I don't think Chinese level is the main reason. Moca, if you really want to know, go to the school and ask your son's classmates directly.

hi People3,

消息是幾位 P6 家長透露的。

少部份外籍家長認為P6 中文程度已足夠實不足為奇；作為中國人家長或其他希望學好中文的外籍家長一般當然會認為 P6 中文程度唔夠啦，希望小朋友中學仍然學多些中文，加上家長普遍滿意學校其他各方面，所以大部份人均選擇留低係理所當然。

People 3,Thank you for your advice.
Since my son is in year 4, he does not like me to walk with him to school or talk to his classmates these days. He says he does not feel comfortable and feels embarrassed.
Whatever the reason is that his schoolmates are leaving KCIS , the fact is three Year 6 classes, will only make two Year 7 classes.
When I know some of the parents have already arranged to move their children in 2012. I think I should also have a plan.

好似Moca提到一樣, 大部分離校的學生也是華人(香港人).  相信中文程度不是他們離校的主因.

另, 也有留校家長透露他們已計劃1或2 年後送子女往外地留學, 所以不想麻煩.

Moca, 當然選擇留在KCIS一定有他們的原因, 只要學校合適你的子女便可.  Don't worry too much.

你不斷強調中文程度不是他們離校的主因，那請問你覺得他們離校的主因是甚麼呢？願聞其詳。

"也有留校家長透露他們已計劃1或2 年後送子女往外地留學" - 不單KCIS，大部份國際學校 Year 8 & 9 都係送子女出國留學的高峰期。
